Ruling by Attorney General Barr means thousands more migrants may wait months in detention

Attorney General William Barr weighed in on an immigration case on Tuesday, establishing a new precedent that could affect thousands of migrants at the southwest border seeking asylum in the U.S. In his decision, Barr said that asylum seekers who begin in expedited removal, in which they are not given the right to see a judge, and are then transferred to full removal proceedings, in which they wait to make their case before a judge, should not be released on bond. It means that thousands of asylum seekers who once would have been out on bond and living in the U.S. while awaiting a decision on their status will now be kept in detention centers, where the wait times are climbing from months to a year. "This ruling gives [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] the legal authority to detain all of these people indefinitely," said Sarah Pierce, a policy analyst with the Migration Policy Institute, an immigration think tank. "That's if they have the capacity. So I think the actual effect of this ruling will be severely limited by ICE's capacity."

ILLEGAL immigrants. They violated US sovereignty the moment they set foot on our soil.

Good start, but unless Barr finds a way to void the Federal decision forcing us to release fake families and “unaccompanied minors” after 20 days we’d better prepare for a literal flood of them into our interior. Sanctuary cities, anyone?

Moratorium on any immigration for fifty (50) years. Close the border. Deport the illegal aliens, foreign nationals, absconders, etc. End this nonsense Now.

San Fran Nan says “there are no illegal people” and she gets tears in her eyes when she says it.

Then when Trump wants to send her some, she gets all indignant and righteously angry.

Great!
Let them rot.
Or go back to where they came from.

FWIW, the Third Amendment prohibits the quartering of troops on the civilian population. It doesn’t say anything about the quartering of illegal aliens. Maybe we should quarter illegals in the homes of liberals, starting with the wealthiest enclaves.

The ones that haven't come over but are planning to need to be made very aware of this. I suspect it would deter a certain amount of ‘em from trying to get here. Dropping leaflets might be a good idea.

Accept them until the detention centers are full, at which point stop accepting applicants for asylum.

The Dems are going to be stomping mad at this....and so are the caravans that are on the road...

This is one of the better things I've heard. It never made sense to release them....especially since over 80% were no shows for their hearing.

I agree....dropping leaflets might help. Drop them right on any caravan now on the move.

I’ve seen signs in stores, saying if you shoplift you can win a free ride in a police car.
Why can’t these lawbreakers also get a free ride — back where they came from?

I think it would help if Trump administration started using the LIFO (last in, first out) method of processing the invaders. As soon as they step foot on our soil, they are fast tracked through the system and sent home. I know there is a huge back log of these cases, but I think that it is more important to put a stop to this invasion first. If these people find themselves, within a week or so after setting foot on our soil and spending the entire time here in not very comfortable confinement, on a non-stop flight to the southern-most edge of Mexico or wherever they came from, the message would get out to the rest of the invaders it might not be worth spending the time and money to come here. When the invasion slows down, and the wall is built, then the full and close attention can be given to sending the rest of them home.

We need to lease land on the Mexico side to keep migrants, pending asylum claims. Because it’s not US territory they cannot get access to the US while waiting.
