HOW 5G IS LIKELY TO PUT WEATHER FORECASTING AT RISK
Hackaday ^ | 16 April 2016 | Dan Maloney

Posted on 04/17/2019 7:02:43 AM PDT by DUMBGRUNT

The satellites that watch our weather are largely passive sensor platforms that measure the energy reflected or emitted by objects below them. They gather data on temperature and moisture — pressure is still measured chiefly by surface measurements and by radiosondes — by looking at the planet in different wavelengths. Temperature is measured mainly in the optical wavelengths, both visible and infrared, but water vapor is a bit harder to measure. That’s where microwaves come in, and where weather prediction stands to run afoul of the 5G rollout.

Just what I want, a new more powerful mini microwaver to keep in my pocket, squish tight also to my brain.

...Already have healthy adult offspring and the brain is mostly gone...

Let me see the screen , how much a month...

Yes, I actually believe the near term forecasts are much improved.

Long term, past a week, not so much.

5G needs a 6G solution.

Present plans require a 5G tower on every city block to be effective.

That is NOT practical for serious consumer adoption, nor city planners.

That is need so the ‘hidden persuaders’, can monitor your exact location in real time.

Also faster internet on the micro size screen of your phone.

And do not overlook all the employment opportunities manufacturing the new phones.
Looking for a job? Do you speak Mandarin Chinese? Cantonese?

Roughly, the more information you want to put over a channel requires higher frequency. Higher frequency is more line of sight than lower frequency. Hence the need for more closely spaced transmitter/receivers.

Roughly.

I have had 3 outside weather monitoring systems die after about 2 years of use.

My wife had found www.wunderground.com with an excellent and expensive weather station monitoring the weather,200 yards from our home. It has an app, and she checks it every morning and before we do errands.

She has used this site on her android phone and chromebook for about 3 years..

Our family IT, a grandson told me to get a easel stand for my Fire Tablet. Then plug in the tablet to a wall socket and to read what is happening and will be happening.

The wunderground radar and satellite screen warn us when a storm is approaching besides their excellent short range predictions.

No Gorebull Warming BS.

Just what is happening in my neighborhood.

I do have to tap the Fire Tablet screen with a stylus to update the screen or to go into more data.

They are not towers. They are MIMO antennae, that will fit on top of a light pole or a traffic light.

Entirely doable.

Correct. The company I work for is installing them as fast as we are able.

Knowledge is power. Towers are for 4G, but 5G in the higher millimeter wave frequencies uses small antennae arrays that are not much bigger than a Quaker Oats cylinder package. They will be deployed about every 100 yrs in a city.

Lurker, since you are in the business, go to YouTube and search for ATT AirGig. Apparently ATT will start deploying this with some utilities in 2020. Cool stuff

My opinion is 90% of this 5G hysteria is coming from China.
If they can get 5G killed in the USA, they will have worldwide ownership.

Only Apple, Qualcomm and Intel stand in their way.
What China wants is to get out from under Qualcomm Patent license fees.

Very interesting.
And obviously related to the recent news of AAPL and QCOM.

As usual, I sold AAPL too soon.

“5G hysteria is coming from China.”

China is pushing it’s own 5G tech. The company Huawei is behind is behind the China 5g chips. We need get China out of our Tech (switches, servers and routers etc).

Huawei is a very serious security threat with hidden backdoors in their chips.

So, the data that’s used to support the allegation that global warming / climate change is real ... is unreliable?
