On Sunday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) praised the Washington, D.C. Metro, apparently oblivious to the fires and horrific management problems the Metro faces.
"DC Metro is pretty good, especially when compared to the MTA lately," Ocasio-Cortez said in a Facebook "moment," contrasting the D.C. Metro to the New York subway. "It's clear they are investing in public infrastructure w/modernized train cars, etc."
She responded to criticism shortly afterward. "Lots of folks begging to differ on DC metro being better," the congresswoman added. "I just got here so taking the train on a Sunday without a delay or track change or 1000 people in the car seems like a minor miracle to me."

So and whats your point?
So the rep who claims she is from the Bronx just dirts the MTA and praises her new constituents in DC. Winner.
Drive out more business in NY why dontcha.
It’s nice when the children start to get out of their local watering hole neighborhood and begin to see the rest of the world. I saw New York’s subways in the 60s and didn’t see those in DC until about 90. It had better ceramic tile.
This problem, of course, is not limited to Metrorail. It is chronic in the public sector when politicians with very short term horizons and an eye on the next election are ultimately calling the shots. They see the unions as political allies and are willing to pay the Danegeld to buy them off. All of this is complicated in DC by the fact that the feds, two states, the city, and a motley collection of suburban counties spend most of their time insisting that someone else should be paying more.
The suburban counties, of course, think there is a simple solution. They are less Metro dependent to begin with. And they are less well served by a Metro system that was designed on a hub and spokes pattern to get commuters downtown. The closer you are to the center, the more lines you have converging in your area and the better served you are. Outer ring communities see Metro as marginal. So they think the solution is roads, and they demand that the feds and the states should wield eminent domain and spend every penny to ram arterial roads through other people's neighborhoods to accommodate people who want to live on leafy green cul de sacs 30 miles from their jobs. But that's an argument for a different day.
Sorry ‘bout that. I should’ve realized it was a sarcastic comment.
Of course, she doesn't have children so she can afford to pay more. She probably thinks poorly of breeders and does not intend to become one herself; I presume she is willing to outsource production of the next generation to third world immigrants, who will step up to do the jobs Americans no longer want to do for themselves.
Were she to actually have children, in her current location, she'd probably be looking at private schools, and she might start to develop greater appreciation for how real Americans live.
You can get by in NYC without a car. Subway all over the place and runs 24 hours. D.C. is limited number of lines and doesnt run overnight. If you live in DC, most will still need a car.
Since you asked, my point is Point Dume, a suppository on the coast of California near Malibu.
Your turn.
I took my family on a trip to DC a few years ago, and found it to be pretty good as well. We only traveled the subway in town. The food court was amazing and the platforms and cars were clean. Being from Oklahoma City, where we have no subways at all, we had a grand adventure. The loooooonggg escalators were cool, too.
My brother travels a lot, and he said the difference between the DC subway and NYC's is night and day.
So who runs the Metro in NYC?
The filthy dirty crowded one?
Would that be THE GOVERNMENT??
Hot and petite women with big boobs would rule the planet if they ever organized.
They is the taxpayers of the entire country. In NYC's case they can only ream the drivers who use the bridges and the tunnels within NYC to pay for the subway system. (G-d forbid they should ask the USERS of the subway system to foot the bill.)

She is one hell of a dumb bunny, but she's not far off on her assessment of the current state of the NYC subway. I've been out of the navy and living in NYC for over 18 years now. I walk to work, but use the subway at least four days a week. The last two years have been the most dismal in terms of on time service for my entire time back here.
Weekend rides to me are actually the worst. They are way more crowded than rush hour weekdays. Some weekends not only can I not grab a handrail, but I often don't need one because of being so packed in that other people are basically keeping me in place.
Rush hour obviously moves more people, but the trains come much more frequently. Could be 20 minutes or more apart on the weekend. Last weekend, my train wasn't running. It was replaced by shuttle buses.
Also, each B-Division car holds 250 people, and there are 8 or 10 cars typically. So, one car won't hold a thousand people, but you could have over two thousand people on a train.
As infuriating as the delays and shutdowns have been in the last two years, I do see major improvements. The stations in my neighborhood have been modernized. They look great, and I like the new countdown displays for when the trains will arrive.
Even the trains themselves are nearly all modern style "New Technology" R143, R160 and R179 cars. (Or R142 and R188's in the A-Division) When I returned from the navy in late 2000, the majority of the cars were from the 1960s and 1970s.
No opinion of the D.C. trains, but the most important take away is yes, she is a dumb bunny.
Absolutely correct. The left have always had their mouthpieces spewing far left ideology in order to drive people and culture to the left. Ted Kennedy comes to mind.
Being a visitor from the sticks, DC and Ny last year, NY the year before, I found both adequate but DC more clean. Since its smaller,
Much easier to navigate. Granted if I had to use both all the time my view might be different
WMATA is the laughingstock of the American mass transit industry.
Where did I write that NYC subways were in great shape? I said she was lying about crowded trains on Sunday.
