Word around the campfire is Bill had a clause written in to deal with just that issue. He essentially gets a structured pass, if you will.
$66 billion, in 25 years.... that’s about $220 million per MONTH... $5,021 for every minute, awake or asleep, for 25 years.
“Jeff Bezos and wife Mackenzie announce divorce.” Wow. Pure evil. Mr. and Mrs. Bezos just opened the door for tons of suffering. Foos.
The payout? Wow. It will be fun to watch. She could easily ask for $1,000,000,000 a month.
Wow. Just read the article again. “Wife of 25 years.” My hunch is that the wife kept quiet for several years and then asked for a divorce a few days after the magic 25th anniversary. Why? Because WA state has a rule about bigger alimony after 25 years of marriage. Pure evil.
I believe Carl Sagan said it best.

66 billion, give or take a billion. For what? Does marriage fuse the wealth of the marriage partners into one mass which is then split in two?
I am reading several here who say she’s basically a whore who should get nothing, even though they were married when Amazon was begun.
I’d like to put the wife’s view on here.....
When Mr G and I began a company, it was a joint decision. We BOTH talked about how things should look and run and the direction things should go. *I* learned how to do accounting so we wouldn’t have to hire one. *I* encouraged him to work long hours without feeling guilty, because we both knew it was for the best. *I* sacrificed to make this company go. *I* said, yes, let’s skip vacation and buy this gear you need. *I* made sure the money stretched the right direction so the company could grow and the lights stay on at home. *I* didn’t get to go on all the fun lunches with clients, and all the fun travel that was needed. *I* stayed home and made sure his kids were civilized human beings who didn’t end up on drugs or in jail. *I* made sure he had a haven from the world to come home and decompress so he could go out and fight something and drag it home again the next day. *I* sacrificed my career ambitions so we could BOTH build something for our family. Mr G and I are in lock step about the company. We BOTH did our parts. And we BOTH STILL do our parts.
NOW, we are not as well off as these folks are, but you are damned straight that half this company is mine. AND Mr G would tell you the same thing. You fools who act like she rode on his back the whole way while sipping champaign and eating bon bons can go kiss the southbound side of a northbound horse.
I think that may be an urban legend, at least as far as it being a written deal.
Google’s Eric Schmidt, on the other hand, has openly consorted with a series of mistresses. Tech nerds livin’ the dream, I guess.
But divorce attorneys say that is highly likely MacKenzie would want the family fortune to continue to grow — and that is tied in large part to Jeff Bezos’ control of the company. So she would be unlikely to push for a settlement that would require him to sell shares that would dilute his control — and any reduction of his stake in the company.

Standing on it’s on, this is “probably” a BS statement by a guy who is wildly speculating. If she were to get 66 billion, which I think is highly unlikely, that’s more money than she could EVER spend. So, it defies logic that she would give a damn about the company growing.
Divorces can get real, real, real ugly and sometimes people die in the midst of the “process”. I expect she will take a few billion and move on.
That’ll attract John F’n Kerry.
Hopefully nothing.
What did she do?
