Yet another bliss ninny meets reality...
Good idea
Stay away from bears
Dream job? I thought it was illegal to feed the bears.
Here’s a presentation - by a Trauma Surgeon no less - of his mauling by a Grizzly in Glacier national Park in 2005 (I believe). Presented at the 2017 Rocky Mountain Rural Trauma Conference.
He is a lucky man to have survived not only the attack but the 65 foot fall off of a cliff...

Best wishes to this woman.
“Why Bears are Assholes: A Doctorial Thesis for the Ages”
Why didn’t she play dead? (I learned that from Buggs Bunny)
In terms of research, she can now claim to have some expert, first-hand knowledge.
Hugh Glass would approve.
What’s with the “go fund me” crap? She works for the federal government, which means she is overpaid, under- worked, has excellent heath care benefits, and has generous workers comp/disability benefits.
Karelian Bear Dog + Heavy caliber rifle
Bear spray is just seasoning for his meal
“Here, hold ma clipboard.”
“Watch this y’all.”
The forest services should have a different uniform to prevent this stuff... it should be a black uniform with one or two white stripes running down the back and come with a fuzzy white hat.
Works for skunks. Even really stupid skunks.
The only thing they would have to worry about is getting attacked by great horned owls.
Grizzly Bears...Putting the “Wild” back in wild animals for over ten thousand years.
Why not just cock and shoot her Winchester Model 71?
I am glad that she is going to recover. That does NOT move me to donate, however, any more than I’d expect her to donate to my recovery if I was injured on a bear hunt.
Come on people! How many bear-attack fatalities are there every year? 2-5. Bees are far more dangerous. Sure, it’s dramatic. The only thing I worry about in the woods is the she-bear during mating season.
Recently in Washington State a hungry mountain lion ate a woman Mt. Biker. She tried to run off while her male companion was fighting with it. The mountain lion decided the one that was running away looked like an easier tastier meal. So he grabbed her by the head and drug her back to his den and was still chowing down when the authorities followed his tracks and ended his blissful day.
This is just one more reason why the Dimocrats efforts to take guns away from those who have a legitimate need are so wrong. If you want to go hiking or Mt. Biking in a wilderness area where there are predators who didn’t get the memo indicating that they are no longer on the top of the food chain... then something more potent than a can of pepper spray might save you or your family and friend’s lives.
My wife and I have trekked and biked through the area where the mountain lion attack happened many times. The next time we will have an appropriate firearm with us.
Maybe a twin of the bear monster on “The Terror.”
Apart from the obvious need for a firearm, why don’t these folks who do regular, solo trips into bear country take along an early warning system like a dog?
Sounds like
