We have a Beagle, and he ‘rode’ on the flat bed trailer (toward the front) on the highway, 70 mph for nearly an hour as Beau was driving to work. Beau got into town, stopped ta a light, the guy in the next lane flagged him down and showed him that ‘Chief’ was on the trailer!
If Chief would’ve fallen off, we’d never have known what had happened to him. Dopey Dog! He’ll STILL get on the trailer at every opportunity. I guess he likes traveling that way, LOL!
(We ALWAYS check now. ALWAYS!)

I used to have a 1967 Buick with no back window. I took our outdoor cat to work a few times before I knew it.
She would pop out after I got to work and I would have to take her back home.
Awww, scared kitty!! Hope kitty got home safe.
any one know what happened to this kitty?
MeeeeeeeeeeeeOOOOOOOEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW
Happened to my Dad once. He was going hunting. Our Cat, Mugsy, had gotten on top of the pick up truck camper. As he drove towards the family farm, he noticed that there were many friendly people waving...more than usual for the TX Hill Country.
He finally pulled over, and there was Mugsy, claws curled around the front edge of the camper, frozen in fear. He got her down, and brought her back down. She never got on top of the camper again, but after that, he always checked before he drove it anywhere.
Poor kitty. :-(

That said, I would never mistreat ones cat, and I have enjoyed many hours of entertainment with the neighbors/friends cats over the years. I carry a laser pointer just for such occasions :)
I had an orange cat that liked to do ride-a-longs with me in my service truck. He was happy staying in the truck windows down and played fetch with a furry mouse while we rolled down the road. I’d throw on the dash he would bring it back and put it in my hand over and over.
He just didn’t show up for work one day, he probably found a new ride or, a Coyote. I liked that cat.
Not all cats are likable.
It’s fine.
The family was just on their way to Utah to run for Senate.
A coworker a few years ago, had a kitten ride 35 miles to work on the rear axle of a Nissan pickup. He found it at lunch break after hearing purring coming from the truck. The kitten was quite small but unharmed from the ride
Update, the cat has been identified:
