The new Magnum being a minority..?
I sorta expected that.
But then Higgins turned out a sassy, hot blonde British female.
And then "Higgins" started roundhouse kicking KGB contractors in the jaw, knocking them out. And giving "Magnum" a whole lot of lip.
And that's when I got very scared and angry.
There is an enigma …
Why are we constantly told about the "rich heritage, culture, and artistry" of some random third world African/Muslim/Mexican/Whatever culture BUT they are unable to demonstrate any originality or demonstrate the particulars of this native "rich heritage, culture, and artistry".
They seem incapable of anything original. Putting a different paint job on Magnum PI is hardly earth shaking or demonstrative of some awesome "rich heritage, culture, and artistry".
Maybe their cultures are not all they're touted to be. Maybe the Emperor Jones has no clothes, and they are just beating an empty bongo.
One good reboot I started watching is youtube Red’s “Cobra Kai”. It stars the original actors as Daniel and Johnny, now in their 50s. Johnny is now a beer swilling loser living in a shitte hole apartment in Reseda, working as a handiman, divorced and still driving the same Firebird. Yet he’s a sympathetic character despite his flaws. Meanwhile Daniel owns 4 car dealerships and is all over TV and billboards, and his kids are spoiled brats. Pretty good role reversals, good writing and acting. You can check out the first two episodes free on youtube, and can subscribe to their Red premium service for a free month to finish it.
Selleck IS Magnum. What a dumb reboot.

As for the casting, it looks like a trend to change up originals.
The reboot of Charmed has 3 sisters — one part black, one part hispanic, and one caucasian. [Apparently, Mama Witch got around.] The preview clip I saw did not look that interesting.

Another point about the Brit shows, females, irrespective of the role they are playing, always more or less act like females. These idiotic, swaggering, glowering imitation men you see actresses in America playing are rare across the pond.
This one will probably flop.
