Dogs cannot get ‘autism’, the British Veterinary Association has warned, after the ‘anti-vaccine’ movement spread to pets.

'Anti-vaxxers' believe that immunisations have harmful side effects and may be the cause of autism in children - beliefs widely debunked by the medical community.

This theory is increasingly being applied to pets, particularly in the US, and there are fears it is spreading to the UK and could cause already low vaccination rates to fall.

The BVA said: “We are aware of an increase in anti-vaccination pet owners in the US who have voiced concerns that vaccinations may lead to their dogs developing autism-like behaviour.

No need to lie. Autism happens in dogs too.

Can Dogs Be Autistic?

Autism is very rare in dogs and some scientists even doubt that the condition exists in canines. On the other hand, canine autism is thought to be caused by the lack of mirroring neurons in the dog’s brain.

Not so sure about that. My dog rarely speaks more than a few words at a time, can multiply 4-digit numbers in his head. Oh, and he's an excellent driver. ;-)

We captured our feral cat who had been keeping the mice at bay and took him to the vet. The vet gave us a choice in Rabbis vaccines: 3-yrs with over a 50% chance of Cancer, or 1-yr with no Cancer. We picked the no-Cancer vaccine.

Now, don’t tell me all vaccines are safe.

Whenever I talk to someone with an autistic kid, if appropriate, I gently ask if they remember when their child first seriously laughed. I get puzzled responses, usually.

Some native american tribes believed that the sould does not enter a child’s body until their first laughter, and they went out of their way to make it happen asap. It usually involved tossing the kid in the air, up and down.

Men seem to have that instinct built in. Taking their newborn, gently tossing him up in the air, hands never leaving his body, up and down. Often while gleefully saying, “Weeeee!” We do it until the kid is laughing uproarously. I can’t recall women doing that much. Not with newborns.

A major sign of autism is not laughing. Perhaps purposely causing it very early is ancient knowledge built into men. Something to think about.

Anti-vaccine crusaders have about the same level understanding of immunology and epidemiology as flat-Earthers have of geology and astronomy.

What this is really about is to try to equate animal vaccines with human. If you watch the video's about vaxxing, they all suggest the problem is giving up to 12 vaccines at one time in 3 shots when they are 1 year old. Many of these children have fever and start to have seizures and the docs say that is to be expected with some children. The problem is, these "some children" invariably end up autistic. If they would spread the vaccines out over a couple of years and wait till they are 3-4 years old, why not try that awhile. Docs go nuts and say what if they get whooping cough at 15 months? Well, children lived through whooping cough, measles, and other diseases for millinea before vaccines. The advent of autism was almost unheard of 50-60 years ago. Today it's 1 in 50 and getting worse.

It's definitely environmental. Why not take a couple thousand kids aside and try something different and just see.

All this story is dong is comparing apples and oranges. The parents who have autistic children deserve better than this.

Manny of the kids doing shootings might fit the term "autistic spectrum" but due to privacy, it's not readily exposed. Some have been put on SSRI's and the news will never tell you. 30-40 million Americans take SSRI's today. Once you get on them you can hardly stop taking them. ALL,....ALL school shooters in the recent past since the 80's were either on SSRI's or getting off of them. Columbine is a textbook example. Were they autistic? We don't know, but they were on SSRI's. They had difficulty relating to others. Did this guy in Fla. relate to those he murdered? He was on SSRI's. People on SSRI's don't cry. They don't have feelings for others. My father in law was on SSRI's and his wife of 45 years died. He didn't ever cry until he died. He even stated that he couldn't cry for her. He had feelings of suicide.

I've seen people try to stop taking SSRI's and it looks like they are sopping heroine. If you complain to the doctor, they say why are you stopping taking them? If you want to be an unfeeling Stepford wife for the rest of your life, keep taking them.

I guess you and your fellow flat-Earthers never heard of all of the kids in iron lungs before Salk developed a polio vaccine, or about how smallpox would wipe out a large fraction of entire British towns before Jenner developed his cowpox-based vaccine.

As to your s-called 'reasoning" that says "My kid has autism. My kid was once vaccinated. Therefore the vaccine caused his autism", it's more or less equivalent to the thinking behind, "I twisted my ankle this morning while working in the yard. Last week, I drank some iced tea. Therefore, iced tea caused me to twist my ankle." Good luck.

The champs of the anti-vax crowd are the muslims in sub-Saharan Africa, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Polio would have been completely eliminated from the this planet but for them.

Whatever causes it, autism was very, very rare when I was a kid. There was polio, however.

I never even heard about autism until I was in my mid-twenties. I'm glad everyone took their polio shots back in the day. Thank God.

I’ve had about 15 dogs in my life. And most of them were very intelligent.

But I had one, that I considered as dumb as they come.

He knew how to eat, poop, and sleep. Anything else he could not learn.

But I still loved that Mutt.

When Rain Man was shot in the late 80's they had to spend a good bit of time explaining autism to the audience. Most people had never even heard of it.

Not the case today. We've gone from about a dozen required vaccines to as many as 80. Just sayin'.
