The wakes and funerals of Abraham Lincoln, FDR, HST, Ike, Ronald Reagan, JFK, were attended by all sorts & types of citizens paying respect to the passed leaders and their wives of the American Republic in massive numbers of rank and file American citizens.
The wake of Barbara Bush draw a paltry 6,000 people to view her casket in mourning. And...the following day funeral was a closed "elite establishment" affair, without hardly any public outpouring from the American public whatsoever.
Why? The Bush family with its envy, hatred, disdain, dislike and elitist gaul, dripping with disgust for POTUS, Donald J. Trump had done immense damage to its image in the eyes, ears and minds of millions of Americans who support POTUS, Trump and elected him POTUS.
That also a ditto for the Clintons and the Obamas who I suspect will get a similar reception upon their passing from the overwhelming numbers of the American people.
There used to be a time in America politics when elections were competitive, with both sides going at one another, but when the American people made their choice known...that choice was respected for those who were fairly elected.....and they would be given a fair chance to rule & legislate by a majority of the America people. No more!!!
I hate to say this......but, I fear the passing of some our past leaders passing time, will be met with simply...so what? Barbara Bush, who stood by and let the hate of Donald J. Trump fester in her sons, unabated. Not good for her and certainly not good for our beloved country. That is why you did not see or notice millions of mourning folks on the streets of the funeral procession, as we all did when Ronald Reagan passed away. Sad!!!
Well since you asked for comments here is mine. Funerals for VIPs are almost always invitation only if only for security reasons. Based on his remarks at various times Mr. Trump’s views of the Bush family seems to closely reflect your own. Why would he want to be there unless it was just to verify that she really was dead? As a long time lurker goimg back to the early 2000’s I can remember when any criticism of the Bush family around here got people banned. My how times have changed and I might add not for the better. As for the general tone of your screed, the less said the better. So I will confine myself to saying that I think it is shocking in its lack of Christian charity and its abundance of poor taste.

Kudos to Melania for going at all knowing the reception she would get at such an event would be icy cold.
I missed the televised funeral and was flipping channels for highlights. At CNN they were trashing Melania by saying Mrs. Bush didn’t care about appearances and wore a $29 pair of shoes whereas Melania was a model who dressed to show off. Was disgusted at the cheap shot and quickly changed channels quickly back to Fox
I know. I give Melania so much credit for being in the presence of people who are evil and cold as ice toward she and her husband. I don’t know if I could have done it!

I do recall Barbara campaigning for Jeb, but when Nancy Reagan passed Barbara did not attend her funeral.

Not one of them have come out in support of the president? One of the reasons that I love FR is because of the things that so many posters think of that I didn’t. You’re right this president is fighting alone (except for us), and he is fighting a criminal enterprise bigger than any that anyone has ever seen before.
My daily prayer is that President Trump doesn’t get despondent and lose faith in himself. This is some rancid meat that he has dug his teeth into and I pray they don’t break him.
I have always had total respect for Bob Dole and Dick Cheney and nothing has ever changed that.

I use to like the Bush family a long time ago.
However, after researching the family, looking at the evidence.... They were not the people I thought they were. To be frank I was shocked, angry and extremely disappointed. They deceived me well.
I will respect the passing of anyone, and will not say anything further.

Many thanks to Jim Rob for this, I don't owe him a steak, I owe him the whole cow to go with the beer :-) With a bit of luck I will see our Lion next Saturday as he comes to Michigan, maybe we can fill his sails with positive vibes to undo the swamp and the "rancid meat" before he heads to the summit with Kim...
