Yeti bails on NRA
Florida Sportsman ^ | 4/20/2018 | limitless

Posted on 04/21/2018 6:19:57 AM PDT by Elderberry

The National Rifle Association is targeting YETI after the Texas-based maker of high-dollar cups and coolers dropped its sponsorship of the Friends of NRA Foundation Banquet and Auction events around the country, according to an alert issued by NRA Florida lobbyist Marion Hammer today. The YETI coolers “have been a hot item for sportsmen” at the events for years, according to Hammer’s alert.

“Suddenly, without prior notice, YETI has declined to do business with The NRA Foundation saying they no longer wish to be an NRA vendor, and refused to say why. They will only say they will no longer sell products to The NRA Foundation. That certainly isn’t sportsmanlike. In fact, YETI should be ashamed. They have declined to continue helping America’s young people enjoy outdoor recreational activities. These activities enable them to appreciate America and enjoy our natural resources with wholesome and healthy outdoor recreational and educational programs,” the alert reads. “In this day and age, information is power. We thought you needed this information.”

The NRA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization, according to the alert, which also includes a link to YETI’s online contact service/.

I fill my cooler with ice, then hopefully the various species of salt water fish I catch.

On a hot summer day you can ruin fish very quickly unless iced. I don’t have a live well and many of the species die too quickly in live wells to keep them fresh.

I use a little cooler for beverages it does just fine.

And I’m not necessarily talking a wad of cash. In fact, probably not. If there is a quid pro quo, depending on public and/or private sector, there are a lot of ways an interested party could make this worth the private equity firm’s while. If there are any biz journos left, they ought to be taking a good look at companies engaging in virtue signaling to see if there’s actually any virtue involved.

Scott Campbell was one of the crab boat captains on Deadliest catch until his back gave out and he had to stop fishing.

He's started an injection molded cooler company called Cordova, out of Idaho. The coolers are 40-50% cheaper than Yeti and as good or better quality.

Yeti's stupidity is good news for his biz.

Nobody can justify a $600 ice chest, unless it’s a prestige purchase.

I suppose some people might have a need for an extremely high performance cooler, but our family camping trips don't justify one.

Sounds like a great idea for a Master’s thesis but in this day/age would probably be rejected by the Professors.

the problem with coolers for cans is once you remove it- it’s cold for only about 10-15 minutes or so if it’s really hot out- the can coolers i linked to keep the sodas cool for over an hour- ice cold- which is the way i like sodas in the summer- the foam coolies don’t really cut it-. I do a lot of hiking and take one can with hte freezer coolie with me, and drink it about 1-2 hours later- and have another freezer coolie in car (tucked inside a small cooler- no ice) and it’s nice and ice cold when i get back to car- Been more thna pleased with these little freezer coolies- I can’t abide lukewarm sodas lol

Multi day camping/fishing trips at isolated places is probably the best reason for wanting a 5 day ice cooler.

Yeti seems to be owned by a venture Cap company called VentureDeal. Their email address is info@yeticap.com. Just dropped them a helpful tip email.

Good- BUT- the company probably thinks it’s a ‘badge of honor’ and worth the sacrifice in order to promote the socialist agenda

The Ozark Trail (Walmart) travel cups look like the Yeti cups, are surprisingly good, and are under $10. Link

Beers don’t last 10 minutes. I usually bring canned seltzer on the boat or.bottled water. Beer now being a no no at least for the pilot of the craft.

On a hot day wet is more important than cold as far as dehydration is concerned. I have a little flip too Coleman cooler for beverages. Keeps them ice cold. If you leave it out it will start to get warm. No biggie.

My main cooler can handle 20-30 lbs stripers.

Sounds like somebody sent somebody with an offer they couldn’t refuse.

"Lifestyle branding" is all the rage these days. Harley Davidson started doing it years ago and now everyone's following.

The first time I experienced it was in 1975. I was starting 6th grade in a prep school, and the soccer coach was wearing an Adidas shirt. The other students and the coach thought it was weird enough that I didn't know what Adidas meant, and worse when I still couldn't understand putting the name of a sneaker on a shirt. Now here in Columbus, GA, I suffered the same "Huh?" when I see stickers for YETI and "Salt Life" on the back s of big SUVs. For over a year I assumed "Salt Life" was probably the name of some local mega-church.
