Ensign Pavil Chekov was an enlisted crewmember who wore a yellow shirt.An Ensign is the lowest-ranking officer in the Navy (and thus, presumably, Star Fleet, too).
The rank of Ensign corresponds to the 2nd Lieutenant in the Army. They are both officers!

There are some excellent ones too but I think the main reason it continues to be popular is the characters. All the actors are, or were good. Gene Roddenberry didn't allow any 'over acting'... Actors love to 'emote' at high levels but when everyone's competing it's exhausting for the audience. And it's not realistic. So Roddenberry would step in frequently and remind actors that high levels of emotions didn't work in routine settings like a ship's bridge...

What about the dancing green girl ? That would be Marta from "Whom Gods Destroy" (played by Yvonne Craig who also played "Batgirl").
I don't think so. Marta certainly was doing good at getting Kirk's interest up, until she pulled that knife on him...which kind of killed the mood. She pegged the needle on the crazy/hot matrix.
