Did anyone else notice when Rick took the letter Carl wrote him from the drawer - the letter beneath his had “Negan” written on it?

Tara got the “clean” arrow from Dwight instead of Rick, too.

They play fast and loose with it all.

In war, and in the apocalypse, anything goes. Morals and ethics can get you and your loved ones killed.

Your humanity is second to the priorities of survival.

Besides, Rich learned plenty of lessons along the way, where deals meant nothing to those that only cared about saving their own skin.

Negan truly sees himself as a savior of mankind to justify his brutal actions against the “tribute” communities, all of this prior to the actual war.

Rick on the other hand knows what he has become and takes action against others that he think will do harm towards his people, regardless of if its true or not. I’m sure Rick regrets Carl not killing the new doctor guy and sees that as a failure of his fatherhood.

They are setting Rick up for a “redemption arc”.

One of the more interesting things about this show is that the producers have said just because the show follows Rick and his group does not mean they are always the most moral.

Perhaps my male chauvinism is showing, but what's with these milquetoast men meekly taking orders from the small, weak women 'leaders'?

Seriously, these women 'leaders' aren't fierce looking, ferocious warriors. They're small, weak females.

I know Maggie has been around from almost the beginning, but, sheesh, she's too feminine looking to be regarded as a fierce leader.

PC run amok. /rant off

People seemed to have missed the payoff. When Rick asked Morgan why he didn’t kill him. Morgan said because his son was there.

I'm not sure what would be considered the true 'jump the shark' moment (Beth's demise?), but the show is definitely in its post jump the shark stage now.

I kinda hope Dwight survives but I would say there is a 100% chance that Simon gets Luciled soon. Probably Dwight too :(

I’ll start watching again once I hear they’ve killed off the worst character ever, which is the main character Rick. Most of the problems seem to be related to his horrible decision making skills.

For some reason Zombie stories are simultaneously silly yet compelling.

Lots of situational ethics. It interests audiences to explore “what if” moral conundrums.

To me, that’s not always good story telling. I prefer a well-grounded sense of morality coming from the authors, even though characters are more interesting (and realistic) when they are flawed.

Our sense of morality requires that justice be meted out to evildoers within stories. When a character like Negan bashes heads in of living people who have committed no crimes, but on an arbitrary whim to exert control over a group, the story feels incomplete until he has gotten his just due.

Aristotle identified this in his Poetics as an important part of the structure of story telling. He called it catharsis, which is the purging of pity. It makes the audience want justice to happen to the evil doer.

*or* the writers got bored with these two jabronis running in their same little characterological circles week after week.

Not a good sign.

"LOST" writers did the same thing and it became confusing beyond understanding. They later admitted they were trying to find ways to keep the series going.

When everything flips on a whim, good becomes bad, bad becomes good, and back and forth, the story lines loses integrity. If you can't rely on characters to be who they are, whom do you side with? Who is your hero? Whom do you root for?

Mixing things up or running out of ideas?

Either way, such plot twists don't bode well for continuity and viewer loyalty.

Beginning of the end?

Who did Negan pick up en route to the Sanctuary at the end? It has to be Dwight’s long-lost wife, right?

I thought it was the lady who got away from the Alexandrian’s ambush that knows Iron-Face aka Dwight turned on Negan and the Saviors.....

You just watch. They’ll wind up this story line with some phony kumbaya moment between Rick and Negan. That’s where this whole train wreck is headed.

If Negan doesn’t die horribly this season, it’s the end of the line ror me. The series is walking dead.
