One of the joys of streaming. Don’t like it? At worst, you are only out about four bucks. At best, you didn’t pay anything at all extra to see it.
I check out movies from the library for just that reason. Don’t like it? Click.
But when you drive a half hour to the theater, pay $24 just to get in...you feel obligated to stick with it.

"...It figures that Hollyweird is now promoting inter-species sex..." I think that has been going on for a while. Didn't "Avatar" do that?

I liked "Darkest Hour", and even though the Tube scene was completely contrived and offended my historic sensibilities, I ended up liking the scene better when I mentally accepted it as fiction.
He did a great job as Churchill. Of course, I saw this, and nearly spit my drink: Winston does James Brown!

Fortunately I never saw “Avatar”....
I used to love movies and watched many every month.... but with all the b.s. I have cut way back, both by choice and (often) by increasing lack of interest. Now I only go out to a movie theater a couple of times per year, and don’t watch much of the recent output at home, either.

I can’t possibly care no less about what is showing at the theaters nor would I ever waste money on the clap trap trash they show.

I remember going to see Handel’s “Messiah” once, and If I hadn’t paid that sum of money to get in, or if someone had given me the tickets, I would definitely have walked out. That was pretty painful.
But as it was, with the cost and time and parking, I felt obligated to stay...as did my wife, who does not enjoy orchestral music even as much as I do.
I suppose it is all what one can bear.

LOL, didn’t see your thread, after I saw it, I searched for a thread about the movie to see if I was crazy or not!
We did use movie passes to go, had them for years but they were still good. Argh. I just don’t enjoy theaters anymore...:(

Yes when they have something useful to say. Wont go to a theater though. Waste of money. Far too many other things to do better than that kind of falderal.

>>"Okay. I got it. A white woman with a speech disability, a black, overweight cleaning woman, a closeted homosexual, and a Communist are all going to band together to save this creature from evil white men who are in turn: A power mad Five Star General based on Curtis LeMay, a pervert amoral sadist and masochist, a homophobic white soda jerk, a number of other cowards and brainless US Military dolts and idiots, and the entire US government who simply want to cut the thing up the way a little boy cuts up a frog, and for no better reason. Got it."
Another reason why I really, really miss "Stargate-SG1," which treated the US military with respect and honor.
To: pabianice
Right. We wouldn’t expect anything else from a movie with this viewpoint. Distaste for the military is in the air leftists breathe.

I thought last year they tried to pretend that it wasn’t a reboot of Creature from the Black Lagoon.
And the director seemed to recycle the fish-hero from Hellboy.
Why Is Guillermo del Toro Obsessed with Fish Men?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSmnleSus3w
And the green color motif emphasized just how fake and orchestrated the whole film was.
I liked earlier Guillermo projects, don’t like his politics, was interested in seeing this film and after viewing it give it a thumbs down. Sophomoric storytelling, hamfisted, beyond logic. Not even a funny “dumb” movie.
Night Tide with Dennis Hopper pursuing a carnival sideshow performer who may or may not be a mermaid is much better atmospheric story telling.
