Student, 21, sues Spirit airline after she flushed her 'emotional support HAMSTER' down the toilet

A student who flushed her hamster down the toilet when Spirit told her she couldn't fly home with it, is now attempting to sue the airline for causing emotional distress.

Aldecosea, a Miami Beach High graduate, insists her doctor approved her hamster as a certified emotional support animal, and had the medical certificate to prove it when she went to the airport.

She's bought the adorable rodent after developing a large but benign growth in her neck last year.

'She was so loving. It was like she knew I needed somebody,' said Aldecosea, a six-feet tall volleyball star who helped lead her school, Miami Beach to back-to-back National District Championships and was named Most Valuable Player, before joining Barry University in Florida where she joined the volleyball team.

Let alone having a hamster as an emotional support animal, admitting to flushing it down the toilet of the plane and then blaming the airline used to be the mentality that got folks covered in hot tar and chicken feathers.

That woman is sick. If the hamster meant so much to her, how could she do that? She could have called someone to come get it or cancelled her flight.

I think anybody can get a doctor to certify that an animal is an emotional support animal. I know someone who's moving to Europe in a few months. They just got their large dog certified as an emotional support animal and have bought a first class ticket for her. These people travel at least 1-2 weeks a month and board the dog while they're gone, so they obviously don't need the dog for support while they're traveling.

If I paid for a first class ticket, I would not be happy to find a dog in the cabin and have to watch doggy diapers being changed.

We used to have a hamster and a cat named Smitty. I forget the hamster’s name. Smitty harassed the hamster in its cage so much that it died. We buried the poor hamster and this was his epitaph:

Smitty was his bane
Smitty was his sorrow
Smitty wants to dig him up for breakfast tomorrow

This female is a totally useless, unstable, narcissistic piece of excess protoplasm. There is no place in the world which needs a selfish b__h like her, who would subject a loving little pet to a horrible drowning death on a whim. If I met her, I’d slap her across the room and tell her exactly what she is. Then let her run to find some Play-doh or a stuffed animal, like the emotional infant she is.

Couldn’t they have allowed the poor, helpless hamster to fly and flushed the worthless millennial snowflake down the toilet instead?

Note to Barry University: Don't put student Belen Aldecosea in charge of getting mascot Bucky the Parrot to the next volleyball game.

So, a college student with serious mental issues flushes her hamester down the toilet and somehow it’s the airline’s fault. I had to check twice to see if this was a parody story.

Usually “everything is so cheap, right down to the seats!” should be cause for concern, at least when it comes to aviation. Just so long as they aren’t skimping on scheduled inspections, mechanics, parts etc.

“Fast, good, or cheap. Pick two.”

Her haunches are excellent.

However, as implied by a previous commenter, don’t stick it in crazy, no matter how she looks.

I’m sorry for the poor girl’s medical trauma, hopefully someone that really IS loving reaches out to her.

Trauma? She had a benign cyst on her neck. I have a bad back and arthritis and HBP and someone once said something mean to me. I want an emotional support Honey Badger damn it!

It seems they are making them cheap in the ways they can. I was almost too impressed with the seats on those things They must weigh less than a third of the weight of most airplane coach seats.

The airhead probably went to a lawyer, who saw visions of big $$$$.

The idiot should be arrested. She has no case here. In fact, the airline needs to sue her for a frivolous lawsuit.

And finally, enough with the “emotional support animal” crap. Seeing eye dogs or specially trained dogs to help paraplegics, fine, but if you can’t travel or go to a restaurant, store, etc., without your “emotional support” hamster, peacock, pony, snake or yappy Chihuahua, then perhaps you should just stay home.

I couldn't agree more!
