Generally it’s Minneapolis-St Paul is very union friendly. My experience with manufacturing there is the union guys are more productive than elsewhere. Managers laconic and dull at dinner, but truthful and honest

“I live in IL and it a total sh**hole”.

I find it hard to believe that the whole state is that way. Once away from Chicago, I’m sure it is much like fly over country.

I hear Minnesota is a wonderful place to live, not like scorching-hot Arizona with its rattlesnakes and scorpions.

Yeah, everybody should move to Minnesota.

I love bed in WI and worked in MN in the late 80s, then moved to downstate IL. At that time they were about equal, some taxes powers here than there an MN was the highest. But since then, Gov. Walker has pulled WI way ahead and MN and IL are on the crazy train. The Cities are Chicago but with more snow. Rural areas and small towns and cities in all three states are nice places to live and the crazy doesn’t have all that much impact day to day. Unions are still strong but WI is the only one getting real growth because of right to work.

Downstate IL near STL is nice weather, pretty countryside, polite people. But we all talk a lot about leaving the state. Anytime you have to interface with the government it’s generally painful, unhelpful, sullen, and mean. Plus we all see nothing but higher taxes forever to feed the greed of Chicago and Springfield. If I could leave without getting financially nailed I would.

I’ve been to Minneapolis twice, once back in the 1990’s, and once last year. I was pretty shocked at how different it seemed. Downtown in particular felt pretty unsafe, relative to similar parts of other cities around the country.

Minnesota's city government is lost, but there is a thinktank The American Experiment and they will give you a real and thorough answer.

Indiana. It’s growing there is opportunity and it’s much better then the Illinois land in all respects. Climates exactly the same or better.

I’ve lived in IN, OH, WI, and IL. of all of them south of Indy/Columbus and East of Illinois is best. Not as bad tornadoes to the west of IL.

Ourstate MN has fine; the problem is in the cities. I would move my business out of MN in a heartbeat if I could.

I live in Rochester, MN and grew up here.
Been traveling the world for the last 30 years and by surprise, ended back in my home state.

MN and Minneapolis is 10,000x better than Chicago.
Much more conservative in rural MN than Minneapolis.

Winters are pretty brutal in Dec-Feb.
Spring is muddy as frost level melts.
Fall and Summer are usually nice if you don’t mind bugs.

I have relatives there. The “natives” are great, but gullible. They have allowed the place to be overrun by foreigners and democrat criminals.

The easy access welfare laws allow people to collect right away (IIRC). According to one of my relatives, on welfare check day, Greyhound has many extra buses running from Chicago for Chicago welfare cheats to get bussed in, pick up a check, and then go back to Chicago (where presumably they also are collecting welfare.)

When the natives are stupid and gullible, it’s not long before the criminal element shows up and takes over.

Also - again IIRC - the state is in financial trouble because of the above. No place can survive when the takers are increasing faster than the producers.

Rode the light rail into St.Paul for a day at the kids/science e museum. I went through parts of town that I’m sure we’re not controlled by Americans any more.

Except for those sparrow-sized mosquitoes.
