I have a question.
Tonight, on the New Year's Eve Times Square webcast, I have been seeing person after person saying that their wish for the new year is that our country would have more compassion.
I don't know about you, but I don't think that we've lost any of our compassion. Why do you think THEY think that compassion is lost?
Because Trump.
Because Trump.
There is a saying in ancient mystical texts.
“If the barking dogs are chasing you in circles, move in a straight line to escape. If the barking dogs are moving in straight lines, you move in circles to escape.”
What this means is, If you are attacked by logic, respond with emotion. If you are attacked by emotion, respond with logic.
The wise person has both logic and emotion, stabilized and held together with Love and moves in whichever direction or motion desired at that moment.
Mosul is safe enough now that they had fireworks tonight
So did Poland

That is compassionate
The picture of the person hitting the car with the Ohio plates, prior to the driver hitting the gas to escape and subsequently kill the young woman in Charlottesville VA is the person who should be arrested for manslaughter as their aggressive act caused the death. (Just as the actual driver of the car that hit the girl was not accused as the car shown shoved that car to kill her.)
Indivually, we are compassionate.
But on this forum, there are quite a few folks who think the only solution to everything is blowing it up.
“accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering’
by taking other peoples money at gunpoint (gov’t does that) and giving it to the suffering?
Suffering how? small tv? Nothing but cheese and pasta or pbj sandwiches for lunch? slow internetz? Obsolete I-phone?
“The state never belonged in any form of compassion business in the first place. It was never intended.”
Nor is it possible. The only thing the state can do is rob from Peter and give, more often than not, to an undeserving Paul.
Compassion must be viewed as a voluntary transaction between two individuals. What is exchanged is some goods in return for genuine gratitude.
State welfare programs require zero gratitude on the part of the recipient. In fact the recipient will sue the state (using a taxpayer funded lawyer) if the state fails to provide the welfare in a full and timely manner.
That’s about as far from the definition of compassion as one can get.
Standard Lefty Boilerplate BS.
It’s really easy to be compassionate with somebody else’s money. That’s what Liberals do. They vote to use the power of government to steal from you, and give it to somebody else. This counts as charity in their way of thinking.
Now the truth of the matter is of course these are many times the cheapest most selfish bastards on the planet and if (for example) the true costs of illegal immigration and other lefty nonsense were borne equitably they’d all have ICE on speed-dial and the National Guard patrolling the border, etc etc.
It’s all just virtue signalling and “feelings”; remember results don’t matter, just good intentions. So they can talk about “compassion”; and their work is done. There’s no need for specificity or anything concrete, just mindless platitudes and thought ending cliche’s. That’s how it works.
Because Trump and his supporters want to build a wall and deport illegals, they think that’s “not compassionate.” Funny how they have so much compassion for illegals, but NONE for all the Americans who are killed, injured, lost loved ones, had their identities stolen, lost their jobs or saw their wages stagnate, lost their local emergency rooms, had their neighborhoods and schools go bad, etc., etc. due to illegals.
Because we’re now kicking the hell out of the bad guys.
they have been told by leftists in the media that they are ruled by a non-compassionate minority of conservatives, and let’s face it, now that there is a conservative in office, the homeless are resurfacing in the media.
God I hate LSM.
It is not compassionate to allow people to do whatever they want simply based on the assumption that all things are relative.
JoMa
They have less compassion. The name calling by the left is off the charts.
They complain that Trump name calls, yet, it was Hillary calling Trump supporters “deplorables” that helped get Trump elected.
