The movement to impeach Trump is just beginning
New York Post ^ | 24 Dec, 2017 | Michael Goodwin

Before you settle down for a long winter’s nap with adult visions of sugar plums, consider a key fact about the 2018 midterm elections: We already know what they’re going to be about.

Republicans, thanks to their last-minute tax triumph, will run on a pro-growth agenda. If the middle-class tax cuts work as promised, if the economy cooperates by continuing to expand by 3 percent or more and produces jobs, jobs, jobs, the GOP will have a strong message to sell.

It will need one to protect its narrow margins in Congress, especially because the majority party usually loses seats in the first midterms.

Democrats, on the other hand, have no message, no leader and nothing to brag about. That leaves a vacuum, which is being filled with one idea: impeaching President Trump.

Now if an election that pits tax cuts and job growth vs. impeachment strikes you as crazy, don’t blame me. And, truth be told, you can’t really blame Democratic Party leaders either. They aren’t so much leading their base as following it.

The “resistance” wing is taking over the party and congressional bosses Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi can either jump on the “Impeach” bandwagon — or get run over by it.

They’re capitulating already, as proven by the way Schumer and others reacted to a rumor last week that the president was going to fire special counsel Robert Mueller.

Never mind that Trump denied it, and there wasn’t even an anonymous source. It was just a rumor started by one House Democrat who said somebody she knew said something about Trump, so she repeated it to the media.

Every month since March 2015 there has been this silly childish declaration by the left.

No
The GOP needs more men and women patriots with spines to stand up and defend this Republic

Trump has done quite enough on his own and everyone he loves and respects has paid a terrible price

There is not any name in the democrat party that meets the description of patriot much less defender of the Republic. They are a
soulless party that lacks all virtue in their politicians
Followed only by the GOP unless they start showing us better

You must mean the DOJ OIG report. More evidence of the mostly unconstitutional federal government.

When I do hear impeach from a republican, that’s when civil war II begins. These people know not what they ask for.

There is a good chance that Republicans could lose. If they don’t support Trump’s agenda, Democrats will be more enthusiastic to vote than the GOP. When Republicans won in 2010, 2012, 2016, they campaigned on repealing Obama’s agenda. What are they running on now? They don’t support the wall or Trump’s immigration reform ideas, or his manufacturing ideas. They have supported the Mueller witch hunt.

This is why Roy Moore’s challenge of the Alabama election results are so important.

That election was stolen by fraud, by outsiders flooding the state and voting illegally.

If it is allowed to stand, then there will never be an honest election in this country again.

... Yes, if the collusion hoax can be exposed before the 2018 election, then the Repubs can run hard on the issue that a democrap who believes in hoaxes is not fit to represent anyone in our form of government.

I would not be surprised that once Mueller knows he failed to find anything on Mr Trump, he’ll keep his operation going until after the 2018 election. Sort of the inverse of indicting Cap Weinberger one count indictment 4 days before the 1992 election by political hack Larry Walsh.

Impeachment based on what?
Not liking that the person you didn’t want to win is not grounds for impeachment.

After the results in Roy Moore’s race I expect EVERY SINGLE Republican to have “allegations” brought against him or her in the 2018 elections.

It WORKED after all and the Democrats don’t have much that has actually worked these days.

All the Republicans who urged Roy Moore to step down will now be “hoisted on there own petard”!

Will it work again? I expect to some degree it will. They will wait till a few weeks before the election to “spring” the “allegations”. I expect that they are lining up false witnesses right now.

The Republicans will live to REGRET the day they abandoned Roy Moore!

Of course they are and will try. Obama should’ve been impeached day 1.

You know that have that “constitutional law expert” ... big old Jerry Nadler - NY, who was very present during Clinton impeachment. Based on how he voted then, I can’t wait to find out what ole Jerry thinks qualifies for a “high crime and misdemeanor” since (1) perjury (2) obstruction of justice (3) abuse of President’s office by lying to Congress did not qualify as such.

If impeachment is their only message, the GOP will be gaining seats. Running on an impeachment platform didn’t work well for republicans in the fall of ‘98.

The time to get rid of RINO congresscritters is in the primaries. In the general election, if your choice is a RINO or a Democrat, vote for the RINO unless you want Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House or Chuckie Schumer for Majority Leader.

Then work like hell to have a better choices in the next primary.

The ‘RATs will be trying for a mid term majority. Then they will try to impeach even there is no crime they can cite.

Agreed. In fact, it would be an abdication of responsibility for them to NOT impeach.

The oligarchs want civil war. It's a profitable way for them to eliminate the inconvenience of excess humane productivity.

A lamp post.
A rope.
A lawful Republic.

Which of these things is not like the others?
