For those who appreciate the music of the 70's.
It’s been said that Badfinger essentially invented the Seventies Power Ballad with that song, as well as Baby Blue.
Joe Jackson also ripped it off in 1982, when he released: “Breaking Us in Two”.
Pete Ham is also a member of the 27 Club, alas.
Saw them at Cowtown Ballroom in Kansas City .

Paul McCartney wrote many of Peter And Gordon's songs. Paul was dating Peter's sister (Jane Astor) and living 'upstairs' in their (Astor's) residence.
Peter was upset and thought that their success was due to them having Paul Mc cartney's name on many of their records.
So, Paul wrote another song for them and used a fake name, Bernard Webb the song was "Woman" and one of their biggest hits.
I saw peter & Gordon in Manila in 1966.
And then there were one... the drummer passed a few years back, leaving only the bass player alive from a band that, at its peak, was reportedly selling more records for the Apple label than any artist, bar none (including the Beatles). After they got srewed by the embezzler they signed with after Apple collapsed, the two main songwriters died of suicide (one some years after the other). As a band, they were the precursors of and bridge to the power pop bands of the 1970s and early 1980s. My favorite of theirs, "No Matter What", has been covered by at least a couple bands, and the false ending of thair original version pretty much smokes every other song where it's been tried. :^)
Peter Asher gets some props here, as well, and James talks about how he was signed to Apple on the basis of this song. George Harrison liked it so well he wrote “Something” which rips the title and first line of JT’s:

As hits go, McCartney did Come and Get It an Todd Rundgren did Baby Blue. Harrison did Day After Day.
The second album that they did for Warner Bros is a fine offering. It’s titled Wish You were Here.

I always felt Badfinger was a pretty good representation of what The Beatles would’ve sounded like had they not broken up.
I was little when they were popular.
I thought they WERE the Beatles.
