Oh my! I don’t think I’ve ever seen that, altho I don’t watch much MMA.
I am surprised he didn’t break the guys jaw. Side kick/back kick is strong and fast. I have kicked out a lot of commercial sheetrock walls and the only thing that comes close might be a heel rake.
The MMA pundits are calling this a spinning kick. It was not a spinning kick, it was an opponent adapted hooking back kick, applied at a nearly vertical angle. To execute it you have to have impeccable timing and read how the opponent will move.
This is a gung fu kick. You won’t see it in any karate or tae kwon do martial arts halls. You can actually kick an opponent in the back of the head from under the opponent’s arm.It is also known in some circles as a scorpion kick.

Recall we had a few odd balls here actually rooting for the black racist guy who had punched her in the face - simply for asking him to give her a little more space on the bench seat they were sharing.
