1959 Cadillac: The king of fins (car porn)
YouTube ^ | 2011 | Cardiff333UK

Posted on 11/02/2017 2:34:07 PM PDT by NRx

The high water mark of 1950's car design. Scads of chrome, rocket-ship tailfins and 5,000 lbs of good old fashioned American made steel on an X frame. (We won't dwell on the 8MPG fuel economy). A true automotive goddess from another age.

My first vehicle was a 1960 Plymouth Fury.

It looked very out-of-date when I got it in 1967 to commute to college. Back then, body styles changed frequently.

Heh heh! Cadillac Ranch . . . wish it was still there. It was the most interesting landmark between DFW and Amarillo.

Well now you may think I'm foolish For the foolish things I do You may wonder how come I love you When you get on my nerves like you do Well baby you know you bug me There ain't no secret 'bout that Well come on over here and hug me Baby I'll spill the facts Well honey it ain't your money 'Cause baby I got plenty of that I love you for your pink Cadillac Crushed velvet seats Riding in the back Oozing down the street Waving to the girls Feeling out of sight Spending all my money On a Saturday night Honey I just wonder what you do there in the back Of your pink Cadillac Pink Cadillac

I am very fond of that model year. I especially like the Chrome inserts behind the wheels. That was one fantastic looking car. Space Age steering wheel too.

My first vehicle was a 1960 Plymouth Fury.

Lucky. My family was comparativelyh poor, so the seven of us had to fit into a 1961 Dodge Lancer. As we grew, the seven of us had to fit into a '68 Dodge Dart. The Lancer gave up the ghost in '73, and was replaced with a 1972 Impala ... finally room!

Sorry to be picky, but it's not between DFW and Amarillo.

It's about 15 miles west of Amarillo.

Me. Back in June.

One thing I enjoy about the Perry Mason re-runs is all the old 50 and 60s, cars, and even some older than that.

My father used to say that those cars were incredible - power, luxury and a 6-body trunk. Of course, I’m originally from New Jersey....

Back then, body styles changed frequently.

Did they ever. Remember when you could just glance at a vehicle and tell what year it was? I could even do that with 1950s and '60 VW Bugs. I still amaze people when I correctly announce the year of VW by glancing at subtle changes in the windows, dash, tail lights, no gas gauge, etc. The only ones I get wrong are '56 and '57 models.
