In addition to the cars flipped, the roofs collapsed, and the streets flooded, this seasons unprecedented string of devastating hurricanes also hit a much grander target: a volcano. The Caribbean island of Montserrat, home to the active Soufrière Hills volcano, twice suffered blows: first an almost-direct hit by Category 5 Hurricane Irma, then a direct hit by Category 5 Hurricane Maria.
The volcanos peak this year was, thankfully, more noisy than explosive. No volcano-related calamities were reported from the storm. But the collision of the two disaster-movie terrors reveals the possibility of an unnerving scenario: What happens when a superstorm lands on a volcano thats erupting?

Must definitely Ditka.
(Shiver)...had a bout of severe psoriasis on my forearms in the 8th grade...doc said “well, it’ll either go away or not...use this cream” etc. It faded away just prior to freshman year, thank God.
There would probably be sharks involved.
” What Would Happen If a Hurricane Hit an Erupting Volcano?”
The name of a future Syfy movie, Hurricano.
That is a pretty scary looking picture...what volcano is it from?
Steam.
What would happen if there was a major effort to find a virgin to throw in the volcano? Then someone had the idea to use liberals instead of wasting the last remaining virgins on the planet. This, in the end causes the volcano to go into hiding for fear that it would be stuffed with a glut of liberals.
And here's an aerial view:
It was a biggun.
Godzilla vs. Mothra
Might keep the ash fallout down - other than that and creating a lot more steam, I can’t see where it would have much other affect in the grand scheme of things - might slow down lava flow a bit and hasten some mud slides too (OK so I could see something else...)..
Hurricane and erupting volcano.....why stop there? Add to those two an earthquake and tsunami then put the blame on man created climate change.
I’ll take the volcano and the over.
That does look like a carabao in that picture so I think you are right.
I watched the NOVA episode “In the path of a Killer Volcano”, and when Pinatubo blew, they showed video of two people running to their car at Clark AFB which is nearby (I used to live near there as a kid)
What was memorable and scary about it was the fact that you didn’t see them running to their car, but you saw the video from a recorder held in their hand which was recording the ground, a foot, a speck of sidewalk, but mostly the ground jerking around as they ran. In other words, they weren’t pointing and shooting, but running.
You could hear the footfalls, and you could hear the heavy, fast breathing as they ran, so you could hear everything.
When they came to a car to jump in and flee, it was locked.
You know how people get to an elevator when they are in a frantic rush, and the hit the button repeatedly, maybe six or seven time in just a second or two? Well, you could hear the person trying to get into the passenger side of the car saying in a panicked voice “comeoncomeoncomeon” as he pulled the locked handle up and down repeatedly.
Then they panned the camera, and you saw the wall of volcanic stuff. Pretty scary, and the sound of those scared guys really relayed the panic.
A new SyFy movie?
An African or European volcano?
There would be a lot of shiny stuff ready for a primer coat after that.
Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?
