Navy Man Wins Jeopardy With Winnings of $1
10/18/17 | Originalbuckeye

Did anyone see Jeopardy yesterday? The 3rd appearance of ‘Manny’, a Navy guy, ended with him winning the game with only a dollar. He had only $2,000 going into the final (it had been a rough game for him, he had done much better his first two games). The two challengers were tied with $12,400 each. The final question was really difficult and no one got the right answer. The first answer revealed was Manny’s wrong answer, and he lost $1,999 of his money, leaving him with a dollar. The two challengers bet all their money and lost it all, ending with both having no money. It was priceless!

I don’t think I have ever seen this happen. We record Jeopardy every day and always challenge each other with the answers. It’s all in good fun. I HAVE seen all three contestants end up with no money and they just pick three new people for the next game. Alex and the contestants were all laughing at the outcome yesterday!

I can’t recall that happening but according to Trebek, it has been a long time which means it has happened.

He lost today by making a really stupid bet.

I still can’t understand why Manny, the Navy guy, bet anything at all in final jeopardy. The other two contestants were tied so each had to bet it all. If they both got it wrong he was guaranteed the win. Lost $999 for no reason

I recall one Jeopardy! episode where all three contestants were in the hole at the end of final jeopardy, so there was no winner, they started with three fresh new contestants the next day.

Yes, all 3 contestants missed final jeopardy. The other two had identical scores so they sort of had to bet everything.

I thought today’s final question was fairly easy but only one got it right. Since he almost made it a runaway, all he had to do was make a small bet so that if everyone got it, he would still win but if they missed it or made a less than total wager, he would still win.

Mrs. jaz and I sometimes watch Jeopardy when eating dinner.

We saw it and I had said the Navy guy is out to lunch. She said he could still win if both of them in the lead bet all their money and he didn’t and they all are wrong.

I laughed and said the odds would be like him winning the lottery or Mega Bucks.

WELL, when it happened we had quite a laugh and I’m going to be quiet in those situations from now on. LOL!

Against a plumber, and an architect, both with a Ph.D.

I always wondered about Austin Rogers, the ‘new’ Ken Jennings for a number of episodes. He bet massive amounts when he hit the daily doubles and, most of the time, did get the questions right. I guess he just approached it as like being play money, not his yet anyway. And then the woman who beat him was a ‘one day champion’. All in all, we sure do enjoy challenging ourselves with most of the questions.

The question was what country contacts the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf.

I had the right answer and the navy guy should have known it but he said Iraq. It was Iran.

I thought it was a fairly difficult question tho I did get it.

At first I thought maybe “Russia” then thought “Iran” but I wasn’t sure.

On today’s answer I was basically certain because I remembered the story of the milk maids who had caught cow pox were immune from small pox.

The question that no one got yesterday was something like ‘which country has borders on both the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf?’. (Paraphrase) The Navy guy answered Iraq. The guy in the middle had the wrong answer (I cannot remember what his answer was) and the woman (and we thought she was really probably a man) answered Tibet. The correct answer was Iran.

My husband got the right answer, too. I think Europeans were taught more World geography than we were in the schools, while growing up in the 60’s. And yes, we thought the Navy guy should have gotten it right.

I quit watching Jeopardy when they had that crazy black woman from MSNBC (the one who wore tampons for earrings one time on her show) on for the celebrity show. Her and Alex had a nice conversation about her support of the occupy movement and lesbian and gay issues. I changed the channel and I haven’t watched it again.

The Persian Gulf tipped it off for me and it was a fairly difficult question.

We don’t get the show here until 7 Pacific so if we watch it tonight I’ll know the answer for the wife, Thanks! LOL!
