Hundreds of Kalamazoo residents in the Oakwood neighborhood lost power for over five hours after a tree was blown over and fell onto an ice cream truck, according to Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

It happened just after 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Springmont Avenue and Barnard Street in Kalamazoo. KDPS confirmed the accident, and Consumers Energy outage map shows almost 200 customers have lost power in Kalamazoo.

No link?

This is the type of writing I would rip my students on. The article makes it sound as though the power for the town came from the ice cream truck and the demise of the truck and power service are somehow connected rather than the incident being coincidental. I’m guessing the tree that smashed the truck took out a power line but a reader should not have to guess. Also, condition of the truck driver/operator and his young patrons might have been interesting. Were they crushed, electrocuted?

Right, power comes from ice cream trucks. Doesn’t everyone know that?

Only at the end of the story do we learn that the tree also took out power lines.

For sanity’s sake I hope the ice cream truck music isn’t stuck on Play.

” I hope she’s ok.”

She’ll have to do without ice cream for a while.

They most likely sell that flavor from the "Dead & Buried" ice cream company called "Cow Power", which probably provided the electric power for the city, till that tree fell on the truck.

(Sorry about the reference to the commie "Dead & Buried" ice cream company.)
