[NFL] Owners fret over whether fans will make good on threats to flee [ed]
NBC Sports ^ | September 29, 2017 | Mike Florio

Football fans routinely do plenty of huffing and puffing, but they rarely blow the house down. This time around, the NFL worries about the house getting blown down. Every year, bad teams emerge and their fans (in most non-California instances) still support them. And even if any given season (or, in Cleveland, every given season) becomes lost, a reset to 0-0 is always less than four months away. For true fans, the tattoo on their soul is permanent, and disowning a favorite team is every bit as hard as disowning a child. But this thing could be different. A league that has openly pandered to the military and the flag (and, in turn, to those who would react favorably to pandering to the military and the flag) now finds itself caught between a movement that has, after 13 months of simmering, exploded into a full boil that threatens to hit the league where it hurts the most.

the entire Cowboys team did the kneeling. That sent a very negative message to the country that gave them so much.

What bothered me even more, with this particular event, was that the owner was kneeling with them. An owner who just a week or two before was huffing and puffing and making macho statements on how HIS team would not be doing this.

This told me that management had decided to support the players in this vs. taking a firm stance and stopping this nonsense. The inmates took over the asylum, and this is going to just keep going on.

I was just a kid starting to watch pro ball and my NFL team was the Packers in the 1960’s, Vince Lombardi, Jerry Kramer and others were my heroes. Now at 62 I have lost just about all interest in the game and the latest crap over the last two seasons has done me in. Pro Football and even College just is no longer important.

The guys who played back in the late 1950’s, 60’s and even 70’s, were class act guys and many of them had to have off season jobs to make it.

This is different. I’ve stuck with the Lions through thin and thin. But that was all football thin and thin. Why the heck do they think I would watch and get indoctrinated with leftist propaganda?

"Threats to leave"... THREATS?

The anti-American nfl jug heads still don't get it; We've ALREADY LEFT the nfl FOR GOOD and the DIVORCE IS PERMANENT!

The nfl (no longer in caps because it no longer deserves any respect, has become the PC pink, black racist "ONLY black lives mater" "national felon league") literally killed itself, its nfl brand, and its fan base "goose that laid the billion dollar solid gold eggs" WITH THEIR OWN HANDS!

With luck this will end the NFL and Americans can take up happier, more productive hobbies.

I remember growing up and wanting to be old enough to stay up and MNF. Used to love watching MNF and SNF. Sure does free up time to do other things.

Have you seen what’s happening in Seattle? MLS champs last year.

I used to turn on the TV, mute the sound, and turn on the radio to hear a far-better play-by-play for what USED to be my team. That is, before they went full-goose leftard.

I’m done too.

A league that has openly pandered to the military and the flag (and, in turn, to those who would react favorably to pandering to the military and the flag)

The military paid pro sports teams $10.4 million for patriotic displays, troop tributes

Some "pandering."

A cute pop psychology phrase, but no, it’s hate.

No - hate means you are still emotionally attached. You are mad because the other did not love you back. When you let go and no longer care, love vanishes. The NFL is about to suffer a massive wave of well-deserved indifference.

I am sticking with God being a greater authority on which things are opposites than pop psychology mumbo jumbo.

Since he included love and hate in a list of things that are opposites of other things I shall take that as the final authority.

Opposite loyalty, but just as long a Cowboy's fan watching the Cowboys lose twice to the Packers on black and white TV, then get in - and lose to the Baltimore Colts in the first Super Bowls. Back then, the team playing its first Super Bowl always lost - Packers excepted obviously. Team playing its second Super Bowl always won - they had learned how to take the novelty and publicity that got to the newbies.

But now? No TV at all. Headlines and scores only on Monday in the paper or FreeRepublic.

Only the NFL going full Leftist could turn hard core fans against it.

Their arrogance is amazing.
