Soon, service dogs will have so much anxiety, they’ll need their own service dogs.

She looked like she was breathing ok as she yelled at the cops. One was a service dog. one wasnt. The other on might have had a valid ticket, just like her.

If I found out that I was deathly alleregic to inside the confined metal tube I just entered, I would be leaving the metal tube un escorted and in a hurry.

Since when do dogs have more rights than people? Especially paying customers.

I can imagine needing a medical certificate stating that I had an allergy and could perhaps ‘not fly in the presence of dogs’ , but not one saying I could ‘fly safely.’ Similarly someone may be allergic to peanuts but I wouldn’t expect anyone to carry a certificate stating they could safely be in the presence of peanuts (peanut factories excepted.???)

By your own “logic” how do you know that was not done? You don’t.

I’ll beg to differ with you because my wife used to travel with her Service Dog. We had to have a health certificate from the vet in addition to it being noted at the time of sale for the ticket. That document had to be presented to the ticket agent at the airport, TSA and at the gate.

I couldn't possibly agree with you more!!!

I have a handicapped parking placard for my vehicle due to having neurologic and orthopedic conditions that on some days really limit my ability to walk. On the days I can walk well, I don't use it. On the days I don't walk well, I use it. Thankfully for me the days I don't walk well during the spring, summer and fall are pretty few and far between.

During the winter though, that's another story. It infuriates me when I see someone get out of a vehicle after parking in a handicapped spot and watch them jog/run into the store or are smoking, fat/obese etc.. If you're handicapped FFS take better care of yourself! Fat isn't a handicap! It's a freaking choice!

She should have taken herself off the plane. Why are people so self-centered these days? It’s always about them!

I thought SD's needed a certificate and/or documentation? Here in Illinois I thought they did.... I could be wrong of course.

I agree: both SD's and handicap stickers/placards are widely abused. Illinois is cracking down on them finally (thankfully!) mostly because there's so many of them and the state is getting tons of complaints that there's seemingly never enough handicapped parking anywhere. That's largely true. Most times I go to the grocery store where there's at least 30 handicap spots none are available. Just sit and watch seemingly completely healthy people push overstuffed carts to their cars parked in handicap spots, empty those carts without any effort whatsoever on their part and pull away.

My best guess is that at least 50% of those with handicap parking placards in this state don't need them.

Air lines are scared to querry these people on their assertions for fear of steep fines so very one and any one brings a dog on board and gets a pass.

You know, one dumbass doctor on a UAL flight acts like a jerk and refuses to leave a plane when ordered to do so, gets his ass kicked and the entire flying experience is ruined for the rest of us.

'Murica.

Correct. I believe it is a violation of the ADA to demand “proof” in the form of certification or paperwork in the hotel context. I’m sure it’s the same for airlines.

They didn't ask for proof that her allergy was real, they asked for proof that it was safe for her to fly, since she stated it wasn't. Once she did that, their options to keep her on the plane were probably limited.

I don’t know about her condition, but I like dogs. That said, I am getting rather irritated at people dragging their dogs everywhere. Leave the dogs home! They don’t belong in stores, in restaurants, in crowds, on planes, etc.
