The adult coach got them to do it.

8 year olds don’t know if they are coming or going.

Not a problem. If the NFL is unwilling to boot anti-American players, then they deserve to feel the consequences of their tolerance in their wallets.

Young kids more likely know the best video game players than the best football and baseball players.

Even Oakland Californiacator land, which has insane Raider fans, rejected a new stadium.

So the Raider thugs are now going to Lost Vegas.

In addition to all the reasons cited above, the CBA which has severely limited practice and training camp time for teams, has resulted in poor play, teams that are not adequately prepared to start the season and the aforementioned penalties, miscues and mistakes. I really think the NFL is dying a slow death. I used to watch every game that I could and would plan my Sundays around the Giants. I can care less now about watching each week and had the Giants-Lions off by the end of the 1st.

Also, ESPN used to be a tremendous lead in and marketing tool for the league. A football junkie could watch that all week in preparation for the upcoming games. I don’t think people appreciate how much of a negative impact ESPN has had on all sports, but the NFL in particular with all their left wing anti-American bullshit that they peddle each week. The NFL would do well to sever their ties with ESPN when their contract comes due.

"Taxpayers will be more likely to reject stadium referendums"

Which would be a good thing. My position on this issue has changed 180 degrees from 20 years ago - I used to support it.

And they’re not big into scheduling. When they watch sports it’s spontaneous. There’s all kinds of stories from baseball parks of this crowd of 20 somethings that randomly show up part way through games, buy the cheapest ticket available, then hang out in the concourse and don’t even go to their seats. They’re there for the social aspect not the game.

The NFL is going to start experiencing what Baseball did 20 years ago, with the young kids tuning them out.

The one thing that actually kept the NFL as popular as it was was Fantasy Football and people watching mainly to see how their players were doing, not because they were actually interested in the game itself.

Like the Olympics before it, the NFL began catering to all kinds of special promotions (eg pink uniform trim, etc) in order to 'virtue signal' and demonstrate to (potential) advertiser its ability to appeal to more emotional viewers.

That's crap too. There were plenty of women who loved NFL football before they began "virtue signaling".

It was TV ratings that they were dreading. Stadium attendance was a canary in the coal mine, but the money's in TV.

This won't be addressed directly by the owners lest they be placed in the SJW crosshairs. A few discreet words to the Players' Association about what falling revenues are likely to do to the next contract, and direction to the networks never to show the National Anthem again will put a temporary patch on it.

But the product is bleeding, and it isn't so much a boycott as simple disinterest that will kill it if the bleeding isn't stopped. The market is speaking, but they aren't listening.

For similar reasons I feel sorry for Jessica Mendoza on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball.

She actually has become a rather good broadcaster. But throwing her into that role when she has never played Major League baseball puts her in a no-win situation.

Yep the people at ball games today, especially younger people, just don’t seem to care about the game.

One of my favorite memories of going to ball games as a boy , was talking baseball with other fans. I recall talking a lot to some older men at the games, who talked about the game. Today these fans take selfies and play with cell phones and don’t talk about the game. Some of these people don’t know anything about the Padres, here in San Diego. They don’t know anything about Tony Gwynn.

It seems that with lots of people today, especially young people, going to the game is a social event, and visit with friends, as opposed to going to the game because you like the sport. They don’t know and don’t care about the history of the game. They don’t know any of the players they are watching on the field.

I think all sports are in trouble for the future, as the next generation just doesn’t have the appreciation for the games that those who came before did.

Everybody’s got to adjust to the new world. NFL is probably doing it best, they’ve got the most streaming presence, Red Zone, and other stuff. While they have those massive TV contracts they’ve also got revenue outside those.

And some of it is the sports’ own doing. One of the big things in the stadiums built in the 21st century (especially the last 10 years) is all these distractions, fancy restaurants, museums, video game parlors. You could easily spend 3 or 4 hours in these concourses and never get near the game. And there’s a generation that has really been raised with these amusement park stadiums. Same thing happened in Vegas, people plan whole vacations there with no intention of gambling even a dollar.

I am a woman who grew up loving NFL football. The pink crap and other femanization of the game is a big turn-off for me. Let men be men.
