One practical use for a chat bot you may have already encountered is for customer support. Amazon uses bots for simple customer requests like order status. We've used them in corporate IT for the past few years to help users with things like password resets, making VPN connections and other repetitive tasks seen in IT across thousands users.

So basically, AIs keep getting turned off or euthenized when the authors mistrust them. Some day, someone is going to leave it on, say Iran or NK.

No mystery...it was actually the King’s English but without the words like, so, anyway, whatever, literally and f*** as placeholders the Facebookers were unable to understand the idioms.
It wasn’t a language. The words were not intended to be a human language. This is a case of unexpected results of a computer program. The program does what you told it to do, not what you wanted it to do.
“Unexpected results” is not new language. Stupidity has no cure.
This reads to me like “Facebook removes poorly written software”. Why is it news?
Ok. You’re not making me feel any better by pointing out the prolific use of chat bots. LOL!
Where are the “Wind talkers” when you need them?
