I was printing some recipes to try last night, and right in the middle it spit out a blank page. So I replaced the black ink and same result. So I replaced the color ink. Still no good.
Has 2 blinking lights and I have no idea what they really are, but usually turning off the printer and turning it back on makes them stop and then it works. Not this time.
So I fiddled with it and figured out how to get to the troubleshooter. HP ran a diagnostic and I read that the printer couldn't work with a 3.0 port. Since I didn't change anything that made no sense-same computer port I've been using since day of this printer.
Anyway, the good news is that we got about an inch of rain total for Thursday and Friday so I didn't have to water what little is left of my garden and got a little more in the rain barrels.
Hubby got some tomatoes which I still have to process tonight - they've been waiting a while, and he just brought in some more. I usually just freeze them, but the freezer is full - another chore on my list for next week is to go through the freezers, and convert any leftovers from last year to something or dehydrate them to free up some room, but mostly just to reorganize and see what is left there that I might have forgotten.
The chest freezer really needs defrosting, but I'm just going to ignore that a while longer. When the weather is colder, I can sit the stuff outdoors while I work on that.
I have been having quite a lot of back and leg pain this week. For the first time ever, I am thinking about going to a chiropractor. Daughter thinks it's the sciatic nerve - I just know it hurts.
I've been taking some turmeric and MSM supplements and drinking lots of herbal tea with cardamom, cinnamon, and loads of ginger - also eating pineapple. Found some exercises in the Physicians Desk Hand Book that I bought from Washington University, St. Louis Med. School. It all seems to be helping a bit, or maybe it's the placebo effect. LOL
Hope you are all doing well. Have a great weekend. Prayers up for all. God Bless.
Pinging the list.
I will pick my first tomato tomorrow. The potatoes seem to be doing well. Beans have started to take off, the pole beans are starting to climb the fence. Squash is starting to produce, but none large enough to pick yet.
] I don't do nutri-foods m'self, but, pls be advised that sis tells me that "fresh is great, pills are garbage". Just fwiw, happpy to help if can. Smooches, SAJ
Pretty much killed off a strong tomato plant by adding some seeds to the soil from a fresh tomato.
i think that was a no-no. Not looking like he’s gonna regrown branches and leaves. Well, I’m giving him a chance.
Looks like some green tomato-corn worm(?) dead on a leaf of one on my pepper plants - being eaten by white egg-looking things - supposedly they grow to eat other bugs. Dunno.....
Already have harvested at least 27 tomatoes from my Bush Early Girl (Walmart). She has at least 30 more on her (I took one). They’re small, but they keep coming. I’ll get some bigger tomatoes off some other plants - I think. There’s about 3 going.
So far largest peppers I’ve grown - but very, very few.
Everything is jammed so close (too close) together.
Really got rained on a couple nights ago. Got some cherry tomatoes and California Peppers (small) in the garage - they can’t handle the heat....cooling off though - about 10-12 degrees.
Greeneyes .... sorry to hear of your back/leg pain. My back is very “moody” .... if I do things bent over to a certain degree or stand a long time, I’ll end up with the threat of back spasms and in the worst case, I actually get them. Occasionally, I’ll get a bit of sciatica, but it usually resolves on its own. Up until the last couple of years, I could do pretty much anything so it’s been a real mental adjustment to realize I can’t lift/carry & dig like I used to and resist the temptation to do it anyway & end up hobbling for a week.
We were/are supposed to get some major rain from a nor’easter yesterday/today. It looks like the original forecast of several inches of rain for our area is fizzling somewhat; however, we have had some showers. I spent Wed/Thur on the mower, trying to get everything mowed before the big rains and also to work on the areas around the garden raised beds (getting them under control). Wednesday was a ‘cooler’, lower humidity day (we’ve been in a spell of high nineties & high humidity) and Thursday I lucked out & it stayed mostly cloudy so despite the humidity/heat, it wasn’t too bad.
In the meanwhile, sitting on my counter top, were 3 lasagna/roaster pans full of tomatoes that needed processing and there were more on the plants that needed picking. Yesterday was my “deal with it” day. I used up almost all of the tomatoes in the pans - got 8 quarts of canned tomatoes and 7 pints of salsa. I’ll be doing another batch of salsa today & that should leave me with some tomatoes for a fresh tomato soup and a tomato sandwich or two. The plants are still loaded with green tomatoes so I’ll have plenty more to deal with. Our freezer is fairly full so I’m doing more canning instead of freezing.
What to do with the eggplants? I have two big ones (Black Beauty variety) that are about a pound and a half apiece. After doing a little research, it appears that Baba Ganoush can be frozen. I love the stuff - if I make a double batch, it will take care of the large eggplants. I have quite a few small ‘finger’ eggplants & will use them in a Chinese dish I really enjoy.
My jalapenos are not doing that great this year although it looks like I’ve got a lot of small ones coming on so maybe the crop won’t be a total bust. This morning, I’m going to a local Farmer’s Market to see if they have any. Now that I have all of my canning ‘equipment’ sitting out, I’ve got Blackberry Merlot Jelly, Jalapeno Pepper Jelly and Cranberry Apple Butter on the canning “to do” list - these items make nice birthday/Christmas gifts. Despite all the work, it really is a feeling of satisfaction to see your produce preserved for future use & of course, one of the sweetest sounds to a canner is the pop of the lids sealing ..... got to hear it 15 times yesterday! :-)
Sorry you are having such issues...but ...have you ever noticed how the Thrift Store is FULL of used HP Printers? LOL!
Hope you get to feeling better. It is hard to not feel well during the summer with all the things to do.
I hear you on freezer space. I fully intended to get my freezer half empty before the produce started coming in. Didn’t happen though.. all end up Kenny the majority of what’s left. Tomatoes, pickled beets, some green beans if my plant survive.
Blight! I may not get many tomatoes or beans if this rain and cool weather doesn’t quit. I’m enjoying not having to water and not sweating, but the plants are struggling.
When I was in my late teens or early twenties I started to have pain running down my leg that kept me up at night. I had xrays and was told that I had sciatica and it was due to one leg being slightly longer than the other.
Now when I am on the treadmill, I have a little heel thingy insert that I put in my right shoe and it has solved that problem for me.

I found mine at the local CVS, if I recall correctly. They’re everywhere, not just at CVS.
Best wishes.
Well I had about 20 minutes to sit. Just pulled out the last batch of jars of preserves, stuffed jalapenos will be done in 8 minutes, green bean casserole going in the oven next. Oy! A big kitchen day.
The weather here in Central Missouri has been absolutely fabulous this week. We got another 6/10ths” of rain, the temperature has cooled some, and the humidity is gone. It won’t stay this way for long, but I’ve certainly been enjoying it.
My tomatoes were late to start ripening, but now that they have I’ve been in BLT heaven. I’ve been putting off digging potatoes due to the miserable heat. I’m going to take advantage of the cool weather and get that done this week.
The Red Haven peaches are pretty much finished now. Mrs. Augie has put a little over five gallons in the freezer so far, and the Elbertas are just about ready to start picking. I have four of those and they are all loaded. The apple and pear trees are also loaded, but it will be awhile yet before those are ready to harvest.
I finished the coondominium yesterday and moved Rocket from her crate in the barn. She’s been a keen observer through the building process and seems to be quite happy with her new accommodations. TinyPic is being stupid this morning so no pics this time.
