WRITETHRU, Saturday, 7:30 AM after 12:53 AM post: Refresh for chart… Dunkirk is excelling with a $19.7 million opening day, bound for a $51M opening weekend at 3,720 venues. That’s a very good start for this movie I’m told, one that will enable this British World War II title to leg out to a 3x multiple. Director Christopher Nolan’s previous movie Interstellar posted a three-day of $47.5M and churned a near 4x multiple at the domestic B.O., ending with $188M. His films just have great holds.

My wife and I agree with your review...

My wife and I hated Dunkirk with time jumps and lack of dialogue.

FRegards.

Saw it last night at the IMAX with a friend. Going back with my boys next week. I rarely go to a movie at the theater, and even more rarely see one twice.

It’s a good movie.

but then again maybe they do not teach all of this so the American people will not be proud of their country, and the people who made this country great.

The Frankfurt School in action....

“My wife and I hated Dunkirk. Absolutely sucked.”

Ditto!

This is the WORST edited movie of all time. It COULD have been great, but it was DESTROYED during editing.

It was so mixed up, you never knew where you were in time. What is wrong with telling a story in the order in which it actually happened?

It was so confusing that I doubt seeing it again would be enough to be able to follow it. SEVERAL more views would be necessary.

I don’t blame the actual film creators. The acting, by nobodies, was superb. The action scenes were almost continuous. Very well done. Filming was great! Sound was intense/realistic. Made us jump in our seats a couple times. The dialog, what there was of it, was not understandable most of the time. We both kept thinking “what’d they say?”.

There were also several, maybe a lot, of mistakes or became inconsistencies because of editing.

SPOILER ALERT you have been warned

The fighter pilot, out of fuel, apparently glided for many many HOURS or DAYS since when he ran out of fuel, the beach was full of soldiers, yet when he landed on the beach, no one else was there.

I, like you, rarely go see a movie. I saw Dunkirk and really liked it. Unfortunately I got there early enough to see the coming attractions previews. Seeing the Hollywood crapola on the way reinforced why I never go to the movies. Looks like a movie called Detroit might be the biggest POS since The Day After.

Loved the movie. Nolan is a treasure. And he’s one of the few making movies that aren’t leftist hacks.
