I used to do what you do. Now I just process in the food processer the pesto, put into freezer bags and make it fresh each time I defrost a bag. I process the garlic first then the pine nuts, with the oil add the basil and the parm an process a bit more.

I’m so sorry to hear of the water issues your garden has been experiencing, greeneyes.
Since I checked in, I have harvested a few okra, kept the stevia alive, and became disappointed that the ant bed in the garden patch is alive and well. Have put out more diatomaceous earth, but the little buggers have destroyed my mammoth sunflower heads. Only one or two are showing any possibility of forming heads at all - never mind lack of seeds.
Someone has chowed down heavily on the bee balm. Put down the DE in hopes to at least slow it down. Other herbs, especially parsley are doing well. I hope to see the butterflies consume it all in the fullness of time! I planted it for them! (I scrupulously did NOT put DE in the parsley pot because I don’t want to hurt the caterpillars!)
The garlic sprouts are continuing to grow in their large pot. The garlic plant in the ground patch formed a lovely seed head. I went ahead and shook it in the place I hope a garlic patch might form. With the ants there, though, it may be a race!
Grass is growing all the time, and it seems like that is all Darlin is doing these days: MOW!

I make beet chips paint with olive oil and salt. Great snacker.
How does she root them. Something happened to my Krim. I’d like to start another one, while it’s still green.
TEXOKIE, melt aluminum cans,(it will bake a lot, ask friends to save their empties for you) and pour the melted aluminum, slowly, over some of the top. When the aluminum has cooled, dig it up, carefully, it may be very deep, 2 or 3 feet. Wash it off, and you will have a one of a kind ornament.
What an idea!
Just to verify: is that a means to get rid of the ant bed? How do you heat the aluminum? Over an open fire outside? Not sure I want to deal with melted aluminum indoors! How hot does it need to be?

I like those types of nozzles too - and the action of using a spray bottle kills me after a while. I get those that have the locking mechanism and lots of different stream options. (My husband got a rototiller to go with his tractor and the garden kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger...so I use the ‘full’ and ‘jet’ to water things I can’t get to with the ‘shower’ option. ‘Flat’ is good for doing rows.
I am physically limited with my hands and wrists, so those hoses sound great. Our wee orchard is on one side of the garden with the plants I water on the other side - I switch sides with the hoses now and then - but hate doing it! The orchard is 2 years old, so I don’t know when I can quit deep-watering the things. Not this year, I know that.

I think I need one of those wee little processors. Then I’d be more likely to make it up fresh. I hate cleaning out the big one.
Just bought a little one. Certainly doesn’t have the power of the big one.
I would use the big one to process all the basil and the little one to process each defrosted basil packet.
She just stuck it in a bucket of dirt. With her green thumb, i’m going to have her plant a silver dollar. I might just get that money tree,
If IIRC, cornmeal is an effective treatment for ants. Sprinkle it all round the ground. That’s what I used for the corn patch last year, and it worked.
I like the idea of the wild greens. We have loads of dandelions, so I could pick some of those and let them dry just like I do with the basil I planted.

Prayers up! Yellow is my favorite color. I love daffodils, yellow tulips, etc. One of my favorite flowers though is the little Johnny Jumpup - viola I think it’s edible too. It has purple yellow and white. It reseeded itself for quite a while, but then the planters deteriorated, and I never got them replaced.
Yep that’s it in a nutshell. Well there is more to the story, but carbs are a huge part - especially from sugar and high fructose corn syrup.
I just read that most of our sugar comes from GMO beets now. Guess I’ll be growing more beets and making my own sugar - I have instructions somewhere on how to do it. Or maybe we’ll tap a maple tree.
That’s right they did say chicken paws - I couldn’t remember what they called them. I also read that fish heads and chicken heads are good to use, but I ain’t gonna try it. The paws worked really well to make the broth.
Well I found it on the internet. I was skeptical, but they were great. Hubby said he liked them better than tater chips.
Did you get any berries from that wild bush? We got the best berries one year from a wild one growing next to the backyard fence row.
when our system is set up, and the pool has water, we have a splitter on the hose. That way I have a hose that I use that I just let lay in front of my raised beds, so I don’t have too much dragging to do.
Hubby is the one that has stuff all over our little acres, so he has to drag hoses or haul buckets.
One of hubby’s few tomatoes was ripe today. So I had a deconstructed BLT. Chopped up the tomato, mixed it with mayo and bacon pieces and put it on top of a bed of romaine, with low carb bread crouton on top and with a fried egg yolk on the side.
I have a recipe for low carb crackers that uses egg white, so I wanted egg whites to use for that, I needed a bit more protein and fat to offset the carbs in the bread.
