It was probably a .38 special with plus P rounds but even so killing a wild hog that big with it is a testament to this mans marksmanship.

Wow. That there’s a big animal. Is it edible?
To: JudyinCanada
Depends how hungry you are.

” The hog tipped the scales at 820 pounds and had six inch tushes.”
and the tusks were pretty big, too.

Wade Seago shot this 820 pound wild hog 5 yards from his front porch in Samson, Alabama. The family dog, a small schnauzer alerted Seago that something was up. (Courtesy Wade Seago).

Back in the 70s I used to drive through Samson (Snuff Town as the locals call it) a few times a year. It was basically a dying town.
Around a year ago I drove through it just to reminisce. I was surprised at how much it had recovered. Looks to be a clean well run town now.
My Uncle’s Father was the first Dr. in Samson.

I would not eat it but if you are starving it’s Lord of the Flies.

A measly .38? You need a bigger caliber my man.
To: JudyinCanada
Depends on how quick he "cleaned" it.
Sometime a "Boar" has a strong male scent throughout the meat, and is only good for dog food.

That spelling (and probably pronunciation was prevalent in 16th and 17th century English. Maybe they still speak like that in rural Alabama - many 16th and 17th century words and phrases are preserved in some of those dialects.

“That be a big’en!” A .38 pistol -— must have been all head shots.

I come across a lot of these where I foray for mushrooms. Once one jumped out of a thicket and scared the hell out of me. It was nearly four feet tall and probably weighed over a thousand lbs. Luckily it ran off.

This may be the biggest animal ever taken with a .38 cal revolver.
