To fully appreciate the money flowing into addiction treatment, consider the size of the bill Tara Richards ran up during a five-month attempt to achieve sobriety at a rehab center in San Clemente $416,050. --SNIP-- There are nonprofit treatment centers that cost $53,000 a month, while good senior care can cost $4,000 a month. Whats the other $49,000 paying for? asked Horvath. Its not like youre using an MRI or an X-ray machine. Its a bed, food and usually minimally-educated therapists. Im really confused. Wheres the money going? No one has been able to show me.

Absolutely! The Doctor is the first person you need to see. Multiple day medical detox maybe needed due to life threatening withdrawals. Once safe from the dangers of withdrawal the mental addiction needs to be dealt with.
That is because you are a controller personality. AA could work for you or you would be attracted to those types of addicted persons.
If an addict does not improve, or leaves, AA would say he "fell off the wagon." So AA does not take credit for its failures, just like an addict himself would do. Therefore AA blames the victim for holes in the program.
Same is true with stock brokers, politicians, and professors, that is, they only take credit for the successes.
A study awhile back showed addicts improve when they are sick & tired of being sick & tired. All the addiction programs only take patients who are ALREADY on the road to recovery.
But whatever path works is the best.
supply an demand...far too much demand, far too littled supply
Further proof is the Judicial AA racket.
A judge demands that an addict attend an AA program. Those people are less successful which suggests AA is NOT treating them. If it worked, all those mandated AA addicts would be a success.
So AA only touts the volunteer attendees who are already into recovery. Take false credit and nobody notices.
This is not rocket science.
I’m curious, exactly what is it you think AA does or provides.
“”A judge demands that an addict attend an AA program. Those people are less successful which suggests AA is NOT treating them. If it worked, all those mandated AA addicts would be a success.””
You can not force a person to stop taking drugs or drinking, that person has got to want to stop. AA simply shows them the way to a sober life using a simple 12 step process.
Should that Judge put that person in any other program it would also be a failure. I repeat, sobriety has to be volunteer. Detox takes care of the physical addiction, AA takes care of the mental addiction. Too many people think they just have to detox and they’ll be fine but that only treats part of the problem, mental addiction is the toughest to defeat.
“Those people are less successful which suggests AA is NOT treating them.”
AA doesn’t “treat” anything-——where on earth did you get the idea that it did?
.
They don’t understand how it works yet they’ll criticize.
Bingo. Substance abuse benefits are considered “essential benefits” we are currently all required to pay for under Obamacare.
Rand Paul and McConnell desperately attempting to ditch the “essential benefits” elements.
Jail is the best rehab, I know this for a fact, a family member had a cocaine problem and only locking her up made her realize what she was giving up.
An over night stay in jail has killed allot of people who suffered from alcoholism, many from seizures. We’ve had 3 die in county jail from withdrawal symptoms in the last 6 years. I said over night but all 3 were picked up on a Friday and died before Monday.
35,000 a month
Shotcaller pays 8500 out of pocket
Family therapist another 5000 minimum
Curing alcoholism ain’t for sissies or poor daddies/husbands
That’s just first month
Posh joint no question
Addiction counselors are usually ex addicts of some sort and if women they are often man haters since they ruined whatever love they once had in their own lives and are bitter
It’s a hot mess
Families and loved ones suffer far more than the drunks or dopeheads do
They are selfish to their core
Go to al anon
It’s sad and teary resignation
Down the hall at AA they laugh and cheer each other
Still all about them
I detest the destructiveness weak folk wrought
Tradition 7: Every group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions.
Any treatment center usually incorporates twelve step or something similar
They don’t just detox and throw you out the door
I think the hard love spartan places are better suited personally as an affected family member
Look how Southeast Asia treats heroin addicts
It gets them off dope and it ain’t pretty
AA and Al Anon are funded by donations by members and book sales
There was some controversy of Wilsons proprietary assets in founding it once
That’s where the innuendo about AA hidden wealth comes from
Each group pretty much funds itself
As an al anon member I butt heads over that a lot
Addiction is bad behavior not a disease I agree
Calling it a disease can be used as an excuse by some
How many drunks truly own the harm they caused
I’m learning and can tell you some day
I don’t agree most addicts grow out of it except maybe pot heads since it’s fairly innocuous compared to alcohol and dope dope
AA is not a racket but folks do get fixated on it
Treatment centers do indeed help some
Saying they don’t is just bullshit
I’ve seen it with my own eyes
Many utterly disclaim 12 step programs. They advertise that they do not use 12 steps. Remember that many people do not believe in God and will not join any spiritually based program.
They should have received medical treatment.
Just wondering how many would have died from various alcohol related causes had they not been picked up, how many persons are you talking about over 6 years?
I think 12 step has best track record but there are other ways
I think addiction is a personality disorder in some
I suppose it can be treated but talking to others seems to bear fruit for addicts
I did every drug known and smoked weed a lot
Never be same a junkie or drunk
It just wasn’t me
And I think it’s that way for many
Other drink and they love the feeling to the point of destruction
I think humanity has always had this
It lets Satan in basically
