To fully appreciate the money flowing into addiction treatment, consider the size of the bill Tara Richards ran up during a five-month attempt to achieve sobriety at a rehab center in San Clemente $416,050. --SNIP-- There are nonprofit treatment centers that cost $53,000 a month, while good senior care can cost $4,000 a month. Whats the other $49,000 paying for? asked Horvath. Its not like youre using an MRI or an X-ray machine. Its a bed, food and usually minimally-educated therapists. Im really confused. Wheres the money going? No one has been able to show me.

Follow the money.
It’s 20-26 year olds on daddy or mommy’ gold PPO policy are driving this.
The PPOs don’t shop for price, so a treatment operator changes whatever he can and reaping the rewards.
They tried to make me go to rehab, I said, “No, no, no”
Yes, I’ve been black but when I come back you’ll know, know, know
I ain’t got the time and if my daddy thinks I’m fine
He’s tried to make me go to rehab, I won’t go, go, go
- Amy Winehouse...who should’ve gone to rehab.
Reminds me of that floating fat man - the Baron.
Rehab is a monumental scam.
Anti-addiction drugs are far more effective. They sometimes cure addiction almost immediately, and they are often dirt cheap. But they are rarely used.
Stop treating addiction as a disease and treat it as what it really is...a BEHAVIOR-caused condition.
In some states, Addiction treatment and mental health care treatment make up 40% of ObamaCare expenditures.
Mental health care supports “crazy money” disability fraud
Addiction treatment is very often a euphemism for Drug Diversion programs where drug dealers and druggies are placed in Rehab in lie of going to jail by Judges.
We are diverting health care dollars to support disability fraud and support drug dealers with our health care dollars. This is scam on both ends because politically well connected health care providers get the contracts for this crap and then rake the taxpayer over the coals.
This is what government healthcare looks like
"You" meaning the addict. The "you" paying is the rest of us. I resent being forced to pay for other people's BEHAVIORS. That is why I oppose the legalization of marijuana. When the hard core users have toked themselves into unemployability they'll be toking on MY tax dollars.
Decriminalization is different, with the stipulation that no public funds may be used to support abusers.
Since they have CHOSEN the way of death, who am I to interfere with their CHOICE? They wanna die, let 'em!
The shrinks tried for years to get rolled into “health care” so they could belly up to the feral government trough, and finally succeeded.
I live in Palm Beach County; the epicenter of all things rehab. This week we were featured in NYT and MSNBC. I vol with the addicts. They are a mess - seriously. The alcoholics are a dream in comparison. Rehab is necessary and it should be insurable. Fraud is a huge ongoing problem (the fraudsters are the scum of the earth - worse than pushers.) This is a newer problem that has obviously exploded. The fraudsters will be exposed and punished, but for now it is a game of catch-up. Many, many people will die in the meantime. BTW, the opiate addicts are of every race, religion, age and any other demographic you can think of - age may be the surprise to many.
>>> Rehab is a racket. ...
Ill take my AA meetings any day <<<
AA is a racket.
The majority of substance addicts cure themselves naturally. They grow out of it.
The fact that they are under a “program”, does not mean the program fixed them. That is taking false credit. It also may have delayed sobriety, even though the program has some benefit.
No, the fact that the addict sought out the program, means his self cure already began. The program leaders who run to the front of the parade, are just taking false credit for what already happened.
Those who want to quit, quit.
Let me testify!
“The majority of substance addicts cure themselves naturally. They grow out of it.”
The old-school method: Taper down to nearly nuthin’, then stop.
And stay stopped.
If somebody cannot do that, there’s no rehab or program in the world that can help them.
They are hopelessly lost.
So true!
I hate these threads where people offer their opinion on life and death issues. I can guarantee you that 95% of the posters haven’t the slightest clue on treatment for addiction. Many (not all) should be ignored.
If you are struggling with grid addiction of any kind see your doctor and pastor. Lots of support and paths to getting your life back.
Grid=drug
Can I get some more specific info from you on that? I was wondering if they work on other addictions besides drugs/alcohol?
I consider psychology and psychiatry made-up pseudo-sciences anyway. Made up to designate evil behaviors as diseases.
Grid=drug
GRID was the old name for AIDS...Gay Related Immune Deficiency.
lol. You have no idea what you are talking about.
