Did it cross over with or without holes in it?
That works sometimes but you’ve also been lucky. A dog really intent on biting you will keep charging.
Grab it by the ears or tail.

#19 Sounds like a women I knew once
“have a large repertoire of noises that they can produce and may scowl, snarl, and spit, during the breeding season they may also be heard screaming from time to time.”
I heard that one test for Spetsnaz was being suddenly thrown into a room with a rabid dog.
Hence the expression, “She’s a real bobcat...”
That's what I have done, on two occasions when a dog seemed to be about to attack me.
Full acceleration, looking him right in the eye, yelling at him.
I'm glad it worked.
If you’re dealing with a trained dog or a few breeds that can behave this way instinctually when threatened, you’d better protect your throat because they’re going to go for it.

I wouldn’t dare do it again, but I will always remember it. I thought it would explode, but instead it spun so fast, it began to glow. It was terrifying to behold and 100 yards and a tree seemed totally inadequate as protection.
Youth.
Bobcats in Massachusetts have been spotted as far east as I-495. They are expanding their range since the food supply is plentiful.
Massachusetts officially says there are no mountain lions anywhere in New England but I know a few deer hunters who would argue that point.
Whenever I’m attacked by a dog, I try to give him a sporting chance.
