Reminds me of one of the first poems I learned as a wee bairn:
THE FROG
What a pretty little bird the frog are!
When he walks, he flies -- almost...
When he laughs, he cries -- almost...
And, when he sits down,
He sits on what he ain't got -- almost!
I usually carry 40 cal too. But when not in the city I have a magazine with Doubletap Ammo 200gr Lead Hard Cast Wide Flatnose Gas Check for bear threats.
My best bud’s dog got into a fight with some other dog. I had on my Winter coat. I spread my arms and went out howling and growling like a giant bear. They both took off in different directions. I may have been lucky, but it scared the shiite out of both of them! I appeared to be a huge creature coming after them.
LOL
OK but I’ll bet neither pepper spray producers or taser manufacturers give that as a recommended use of their products. But it’s good to know.
Thanks for the youtube links Chode!
Did they put the dog's owner down too?
Take out lazer pointer and make figure 8s on the ground cat will tire then take nap run away
I just stand there and look at the dog front on, giving no signals. The dog doesn’t know what to do.
Or I run straight at the dog, taking the initiative.
So far it’s worked.
>>Shoot it.
Problem solved.
Exactly what I was thinking. I walk my two small dogs in the woods several times a week in an area with bears, coyotes, and other wild critters. Never do so without my guns.
Without watching video, you pull your pocket knife and cut his hamstring, fight over.
Dunno - just read where in OK it’s banned for defensive purposes.
Why would you need to defend yourself against one of these? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXNOz-HkoOM
I use a round that’s hollow point with a post in the center called Hydra-shocks and the bullet is split from front to back in several sections. I saw one hit a watermelon and there was just shards left.
I have 14 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense 165 gr FTX .40 S&W to neutralize any threat. I think that’s more than enough for even a pit bull.
I have had black bears at night. One I yelled at and waved my arms at. One was on my back deck trying to get at the bird feeder under the eaves of the house. I went to the window to try to see what was making noise. My wife turned on the lights and it could see me, but I could not see it. It tried to swat me, but the window did not break and just bent and bonked me on the head. It did not leave and I got my 12 ga loaded with slugs and opened the sliding door next to him and let the dogs out. They chased him across the deck and my Belgian Tervuren looked to get a good bite on a back leg. The bear jumped over the railing into a pine tree and was gone. Never saw it again.
With bobcats you are on the menu
Monty Python, I try not to think about the other type of fruit. No thanks to the media.
