This article truly lost me when it ended by saying The Undiscovered Country was a beloved movie in the series?

the new cbs star trek has a chinese woman captain, a black female first officer who is going to become captain, there’s an openly gay crew member but if you ask me, they could use a few more blacks.

So long as they don’t pick Quinto for Alexander Dane/Dr. Lazarus. And for laughs, they ought to do a crossover episode where there’s an actual Galaxy Quest universe and Captain Taggart, Tawny Madison, Dr. Lazarus and the rest are real . . .

[Avoid anything like the horrid boring Next Generation]

It needs to be a “Space Western” again.

Galaxy Quest is fantastic, just as the first Star Trek reboot (which I’m watching now) is a masterpiece. Let’s face it, Simon Pegg junked up “Beyond”. Into Darkness also was brilliant.

Star Trek Continues (a youube fan series) did a lovely sequel to “Mirror-Mirror” called “Fairest of them all”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJf2ovQtI6w

Unfortunately, that series, along with Axanar, is gonzo due to Paramont/CBS draconian fan rules. “Star Trek Continues” was given a Cease and Desist order and will close shortly.
They have been give the courtesy of finishing up their last three episodes which were fully funded...but no more.

I was never an avid Trekker but I did follow the show sort of. TNG ran too long and I lost interest before it ended. Only watched a handful of DS9 and Voyager. For some reason I liked Enterprise better than those shows. The movies were a hit and miss affair. Abrams reboot ended my interest in the franchise. Haven’t seen the sequels and have no interest in any new shows from now on.

Kirk or Picard? No comparison. Kirk was a captain, Picard was an office manager.

Shatner vs Takei. To decide the fate. Shatner = Old school. Takei = New. No holds barred.

“It’s dead, Jim.”

In agreement here. I loved the show since I watched it as a kid, but there are a lot of other interesting SciFi stories to bring to the screen especially in the CGI era. The Expanse on SyFy is great.

The Star Trek gold mine is done played out.

I think Dune should be explored.

“The show was somewhat tedious but had a tolerable story line which only a hard-core fan would love. However, when they had the pro-gay episode about the Vulcan mind meld, even I had to bail out the nearest air lock.”

True, but I could watch 50 minutes of Jolene Blalock reading a phone book out loud.

ST:Voyager has grown on me in the last few years. I once watched it only because 11 of 10 was on.

“Galaxy Quest is fantastic...”

An amazingly deep film in a fluff wrapper. I wonder if Shatner ever made any comment about it.
