Liberal “social justice” is the reincarnation of Soviet Union political correctness and indoctrination.
Your ability to get jobs in academia, government and many socially appreciated nonprofit positions requires earning the certificate that says you are politically indoctrinated.
This isn’t stupid. This is a deliberate path to what has been a route to the elite, though many end up permanently underemployed and angry activists, which also supports the liberal elites who want to have an army to direct against targets.
And in their spare time, they form liberal digital hate mobs online to shame and ruin the lives of perceived dissidents and those who violate various liberal dogmas. It is the real world equivalent of the 2 minute hate in 1984 but with varying targets.
Jon Ronson is one of the few people I’ve seen who has discussed this phenomena and the only major one addressing the aftermath.

However, still some hope for the marketable skills like engineering/sciences and business. The rest is extremely expensive fluff IMO.
And the campus life stuff is secondary, too.
Goes without saying but the purpose of any form of training is to learn skills that will be a stepping stone towards a job and the means to earn a living. It is secondary and icing on the cake if the job turns out to be “fun” and enjoyable.

All three of our sons had very little college and all earn a very handsome living through hard work and a healthy work ethic. We are so very proud of them. (Sales, Real Estate, and Restaurant business in that order)

PLUS, no student loan debts. The peers of our youngest are no where as successful as him, and are digging their way out of college debts. They envy his freedom from that burden.
