Thought it well past time to get a 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs discussion thread going, now just 2 games into the 2017 Playoffs.
He walks the walk. Not that I’d want him for our coach, but the guy is effective.
The Caps played like the best team in hockey for the first two periods. Ovechkin was possessed. Then the third period arrived and they instantly became the perennial playoff losers we know all too well. They were out shot 19-3 in the 3rd. But thanks to Oshie, the Caps play on.
So far so good.

Predators probably will defeat whomever they play in the next round even though their 2nd goal vs. Chicago tonight is of course, one of those fluke goals; it’s part of the game and a lot has happened.
Great win! I didn’t’t see Torts shake any Pens hands did he?
Preds over Blackhawks, I picked that one.
Anaheim over Calgary, I missed that one.
I picked Washington over Toronto over my gut feeling. I want Toronto to win it....in a 7 game series with 4 overtimes :-)
Picked San Jose over Edmonton, I still like that pick.
Picked Blues over Wild, thats lookin good.
So 3 out of of 4 goals tonight were not flukes? Congrats to my team for their first ever sweep and for making history. They earned it.

My Wings and Bolts didn’t make the cut. Now the #1 Hawks get swept in the first round. Congrats to Preds and fans for an astounding win in front of their impenetrable wall of a goalie. I’m going to have to capitulate totally and start rooting for the Preds, hoping not to put a pox on them for doing so.
They would love your support. It’s a great team and organization. Our home games are unlike any others. Come see them some time.

Boston sports radio obsessed today with Bruins and Celts. Bruins just scored, hope lives.
NY sports radio ... 5 NYC area teams, only Rangers are in playoffs. Not much to talk about except Mets injuries.

Backstrom has stepped it up the past 2-3 games, and good to see because they need him to be a presence. Maybe I only notice everytime he loses a faceoff, but he needs to do better at the dot.
Gotta wonder about the hit on Ovi. Macauley has to make at least a 2 min minor there or it turns into a prison riot. Qadri went low with a hip check leading with his shoulder, glad it wasn’t knee on knee and glad 8 makes it back to the ice. I just was hoping someone would make Qadri bleed from his nose for that hit. Paging Tom Wilson.
On the OT winner - almost like the Leafs D fell asleep, and Johansson really took advantage, and smart of Kuze to hit JW in the slot, as opposed to forcing the close in bad angle.
Great series and I didn’t expect it to be such a grind. Looking forward to Sunday night.

Nope. The only sports game (football) I went to was back around 1986 or 1987 when UT-Knoxville played my father’s alma mater of UNM. Otherwise sports is about as exciting to me as watching paint dry.
