A lot of people think he never acted again. I know I didn’t recognize him when I saw Charley Varrick until sometime latter after going through the credits. Molly did a number on him in that movie.

You know, Fred Freiberger, a ‘nice guy’, if you listen to the interviews from the time, ruined Star Trek. He also ruined SPACE:1999.

Yes,

And speaking as an old female who was a young teen back then, ‘This Side of Paradise’ was a favorite.

(Fueled many a teenage dream, for those of us who were strangely in love with Spock - and there were a lot of us!)

The tools (bamboo tube, etc.) for victory were provided to the combatants by the superior beings. They just needed to figure it out.

I’ve always loved the Dr. McCoy character but I love Karl Urban’s take on him. I’m ticked they don’t give him more lines in the movies!!!!

How can Squire of Gothos not be on this list?

How can you hate a giant lizard saying, “I will be quick and merciful.” I still say that line to those worthy of it to this very day. LOL

I would add “The Inner Light” from TNG. Just outstanding!

Exactly!

I never cared much for the TNG series. I found all the characters annoying. Data irritated me the most. I thought the concept of the character ludicrous! An android of unknown origin in Star Fleet? WTF! What did he do, just wander into a Federation recruiting office tell them he wanted to “ Be All He Could Be!”? They said sure sign here! Maybe it was a Star Fleet press gang, they knocked him on the head and “Shiver me timbers!” he’s in Star Fleet! Then there is Councilor Troi! What they take their high school guidance councilor into space! My special disdain was for Picard! A real leader so much so that he couldn’t make any real tough command decisions until he brought his space bartender (Whoopi Goldberg!)into the discussion!
I don’t think I made it through a single episode!

Now I did like DS9, I thought it was well written and compelling. The one character I did dislike was the alien that had the worm in her. I thought that was a stupid concept. It made no sense biologically and my mind ruined the story line.

The worst TNG episode was when Lt. Yar was killed by a sentient tar pit.

If you’re a leading actor exiting an ongoing series, you certainly want to end on something better than that.

IIRC, “The Way to Eden” was an honest, if poor, homage to Christianity. The “hippies” were pursuing Christ across worlds. The last lines are Kirk asking who they’re seeking, and Uhura says “the Son of God.”

Check out these 3 books, ‘These are the Voyages’, Year One, Year Two, and Year Three.

They detail the making of every episode, started with the assignment of scripts to the writers, and showing all the memos back and forth as the episode went into production.

By Year Three they had about a buck 98 for each episode and were pretty much being actively sabotaged.
