FULL TITLE: Single mother who dressed up as dad so she could go with her little girl, 6, to her father-daughter dance is BANNED from the event

A single mom dressed up like a man so that she could take her six-year-old daughter to her highly-anticipated father-daughter school dance — but the school's principal refused to let them attend.

Knowing how much her daughter, Gracie, wanted to attend the dance even though her father was out of the picture, Amy Peterson, of Henry County, Georgia, decided she'd take her daughter to the dance.

The conform to the dance's theme though, the duo decided that Amy would attend dressed up like a man.

It is, and apparently there are people who will make a mountain out of a mole hill. The mom was creative, and for crying out loud, it’s just a dance, what maybe three hours tops.

The principal need a life or sense of humor, or something.

Three years of listening to Tommy Sotomayor and yes I am.

In the old days a whore is what we would have called her or have you forgotten? I’m not into this baby-daddy or baby-momma thing, no after Tommy I will say it like it is, or rather like it was.

This whore had a baby out of wedlock now is upset that little girls who have fathers have their own dance? We both know what she’s trying to ruin. It’s mom’s fault her b****** child does not have a father. Don’t blame the other little girls for having one.

“Maybe the mother can give her what she needs.”

Calling little children ugly names is a bit much. I know we can all get carried away sometimes, but really??? This little girl didn’t do anything to anybody. She’s just a little girl.

Exactly. Is this woman alienating the girl’s father and then going around saying he abandoned her? I’ve seen that scenario all too often.

I’m a professional DJ and for the past 15 years I have entertained at a Father/Daughter Dance. It was one of the highlights of my year. Because my daughters became old enough to go with me. Fathers were dressed in suits and daughters looked like little princesses. This year I was told that we may not do the dance next year because a ‘few’ women were complaining that it wasn’t inclusive enough. I went home shaking my head. Sad times.

When I was in 3rd grade my teacher told the class that we were going to “forget Father’s Day” because one girl in our class has a father who had passed away. I remember thinking how silly that was at the time. Still do. Life isn’t fair. I’m sure the mother in this story could have found another lovely way to spend that night with her daughter.

They were trying to be PC just like this mom is. Because one kid did not have a father? The other parents should have complained. Plus the kid who’s dad died? They could have lit a memorial candle for him (plug in kind). People don’t think.

In the real world everyone does not bend to you just because you are offended. Unless you are a liberal snowflake but that’s ending now because of Trump.

The best thing would be for the father not to abandon his child and show up regardless of the relationship with the mother.....

At least the Mom tried when the father failed....

Yet you blame the one person who showed responsibility not just for the dance but every day in that childs life.....

It is a Father/Daughter dance, I’ve done many and they are some of my best memories....

I would support and applaud a single Mom showing up as the escort in lieu of the father......

My daughter was effectively a single Mom when her husband a Marine served four consecutive tours in Afganistan....If my Granddaughter was of that age, would you deny her the right?

If I understand the objections, partly this seems to be an issue with the mother’s “morals”. But part seems to be a blanket condemnation of not giving a child both a father and a mother.

It is hard to see how that condemnation would not apply if the father had died before the baby was born, or in the case where the mother dies in childbirth.

In other words, and Morgana can explain how we should actually interpret what she said, it sounds like if you are parents of a child, and one of you dies, if the other can’t get a new husband/wife right away, the surviving parent should give up the child for adoption.

Finally a FReeper who gets it!!! The father-daughter dance is to bond fathers with their daughters. This is so needed, more so in these days and times. The few women complaining, wanna bet they were single moms with b****** kids everywhere? The women should have been told to p*** off. Next time maybe they will have a father for their daughters.

The negotiation hasn't even started.I’ve seen that scenario all too often.

Yes,as I suggested...sometimes the wife/mother is fully responsible. And in all too many of those situations she tries to blame the father. The reverse also occurs...father entirely responsible, tries to blame the mother.

It is indeed sad for the little girl. This woman souds nuts. I am a single woman with a young son. When there are fsther-son events, I ask my fsther, my brother-in-law, etc to go with him; I don’t dress up like a guy and take my son to the father-son event.

Yes, I agree.

If true there really isn’t a healthy dad available, then a father figure could take the girl. Maybe grandfather, an older brother, a pastor.

You know what I meant by that statement. I’ve dealt with the prolife/abortion industry for how long now? Most these women just having babies left and right with no regards as to having a man around. Women’s lib has even told them “you don’t need a man” to raise a baby. Well guess what? You need a man to take your daughter to a father-daughter dance!!!

The article did not say the father was dead, just not there. That is PC white washed for “she had the baby out of wedlock”. Come on we are smart FReepers we can see through that. Had he been dead she would have said so, and played that card big time.

NO this child has a father somewhere. She drains him for child support and he can’t even take her to a dance.

That is true, but this says that the father is “out of the picture”.
