Freedom Caucus drives dagger into heart of young Trump Presidency
FOXNEWS Opinion Section: Elizabeth Peek ^ | March 24, 2017 | Elizabeth Peek

Posted on 03/25/2017 9:05:20 AM PDT by ShivaFan

It is hard to overestimate the damage the Freedom Caucus has done to the fledgling presidency of Donald Trump, and to the country. By blocking the American Health Care Act of 2017, the conservative group has guaranteed that Americans will struggle forward under the burden of Obamacare. In the next few months insurers will announce their premium hikes for the coming year; chances are, given the continuing withdrawal of major companies from the marketplaces and the ongoing failure of the bill to attract enough young and healthy participants, the new rates will not be pretty. Last year premiums went up 25%; it’s likely the increases will be higher this year.

Republicans will own those higher rates. Their failure to repeal the financial underpinnings of Obamacare and start replacing that failing program with an approach that encourages competition and that embodies numerous other common sense reforms will mean that families hit by ever-higher costs will blame the GOP. Voters elected Donald Trump and a GOP Congress to get this job done – the number one promise of every Republican campaign since 2010...

The 20 idiots in the Freedom Caucus didn’t DO anything, other then once again cast the moniker on Cungress as the “Do Nothing Republicans” and the “Do Nothing Cungress”.

They “achieved” NOHING, other than severly hurt the Trump Rally and the Trump momentum. I am have ZERO interest in Rand Paul’s career nor in the delusional Ted Cruz 20’20 Republicans and all the NeverTrump can go to hell.

Americans are going to look at their 401k’s and IRAs and investhents - these 20 idiots have severly hurt the momentum and put more than just a damper on the other things such as the tax cuts. Trump will still try to move forward with the tax cuts, now the “Freedom” Caucus has strengthened the hand of the Democrats who will drive the point of the “Do Nothing Republicans” and if the markets start to drop on Monday thanks to this little minority of the 20 idiots and their vainglory the leftwing MSM will be 24x7 non-stop that “Trump destroyed the economy!” and alot of Americans will believe this lie and the Democrats will regain their seats, especially in the North where Trump won, that will all be lost.

And it will be lost.

Everything is now much more difficult to get done now. If the tax cuts do not get done by August the DOW will drop 1,500 points minimum. Americans will look at their 401k’s and then believe everything the Democrats tell them and the non-stop attacks on Trump by the MSM will have even more of a devastating effect.

I blame these 20 idiots of the “Freedom” Caucus along with the Democrats. And I am in no way alone. I will blame them and I will be correct.

What will be next? You Rand Paul and Ted Cruz back stabbers will start to call President Trump a RINO?

Go to where the sun don’t shine. The “Freedom” Caucus has hurt the momentum in a HUGE way for EVERYTHING now, the Republicans will be cast as the DO NOTHING REPUBLICANS thanks to these idiots, I will cuntinue to support Trump in anyway I can, part of this is to try and get rid of the back stabbers, I pray Trump can overcome the damage the Rand Pauls vainglory has done, and do not think there are not consequences. There will be.

Keeping ACA in place is what the Trump/Ryan bill would have done AND provided cover for the socialist takeover of 1 sixth of the US economy.

By keeping the ACA in place??

HEAR, HEAR!

Yes, because the Dems still own Obamacare! They think this is great because they believe that it vindicated them and Obamacare. Nothing could be further from the truth. What this actually is, is Conservatives rejecting Ryans brand of socialized medicine which contained NO repeal...do you understand that? And if you believe there was ever going to be phases 2 and 3 of Ryancare somewhere down the road to put a repeal in place, we’ll you’re being very naive.

At this point the Dems still own this disaster, Ryan has shown to be ineffectual and a true admirer of Obamacare, and we can put forth a true repeal. This was not a loss, no matter how the worthless media spins it.

Sad we have FREEPERS ready to happily accept Obamacare 2.0 with Republican ownership!

Im glad Ryancare failed!

O-care has been supposedly in the sights of conservatives for repeal for 7 years.

Where is their repeal bill?

I say yes the bill was bad AND the Freedom Caucus isn’t interested in repeal. This crummy bill gave them cover, that’s all.

I’ll believe they are interested in repeal when they present a bill that repeals O-care. They don’t even have to pass it, just present it. It will never pass and they KNOW IT because it’s all a setup.

The left is loudly saying that Obamacare is the best of all worlds!

Why is not the left concerned about the continuing withdrawal of major companies, increasing rates, increasing co-pays, deductibles, etc.? It is a terrible system that gets ZERO publicity!

How does the left plan to fix Obamacare, more taxes? Single payer?

The right seems to be obsessed with worry about being criticized for loss of coverage of 20 million people. Is that so? Is that why we have a continuing entitlement program?

That may be entirely true, but, they better get their alternative out there and be GD quik about it or they will show the whole country that they are nothing but a bunch of crying whiners.

Dont appose something without having a alternative.

No real “work” needed as they have already passed - both houses - and sent to Obama a bill to repeal Obamacare. Just need to repeat that and send the bill to President Trump.

To do anything else would be hypocrisy.

The Freedom Caucus just saved America from another socialist disaster.

I agree. I have an individual plan for wife and I. Not part of the Obamacare network. We're late 50's in age. Prior to Obamacare we paid $560 per month for a family deductible of $3000 per year. Today we pay the same company for the same insurance $750 per month BUT...with a $10,000 deductible for each of us. There is no need to implement any other plan that doesn't bring those costs and deductibles back down. I don't give a flip about mandates, employer taxes, regulations, penalties or any other aspect except to the extent it raises my costs. Lower the costs or just leave it alone. And I don't accept... we'll do this part now and lowering your costs is phase III. We weren't born yesterday.

I DON'T THINK SO!!!!! OBAMACARE IS A DEMONCRAP BILL AND THEY OWN IT! IF THE REPUBLICANS FAIL TO WRAP OBAMACARE AROUND THE DEMONCRAPS NECKS, THEN THEY ARE COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT AND DON'T DESERVE TO GOVERN !!

Ryancare’s purpose was to preserve Obamacare with a little rearranging, not repeal or replace.
Unbelievable how many freepers wanted to own Obamacare with a new name.

Elizabeth Peek is 100%. The Freedom Caucus and the Ted Cruz Republicans can all go to hell.

You and Elizabeth Peek have got it completely backwards, but you've already had that explained to you a hundred times since Trump pulled the plug on Ryancare.

Trump, and the Rebublicans in Congress, were elected to execute the people's mandate - not their own. The Freedom Caucus did exactly what we sent them there to do - fight the crony capitalists, the commies, the traitors, and the deep state.

Elizabeth, you are either a very devious, hateful person, or a maroon of the Bugs Bunny caliber. Young Trump Admin. severely injured? The Trump Admin. wounded in its infancy? What a steaming crock! Trump is not a neophyte, and this lowlife charade by Rino Ryan will not impede the Trump Express any more than colliding with a mosquito would have impeded The Broadway Limited in days of yore.

Now the tax cuts will be significantly smaller? Win? Yeah right.

This should have died in the senate or in conference not in the Republican house if it was to die. The agenda is in doubt

People are purchasing unqualified Plans directly from the insurance carriers at considerable savings compared to the Obamacare qualified plans.

One must ask oneself why the democrats allowed the carriers to offer these
Unqualified Plans under O-care? Then people are taxed the penalty at tax time for NOT being covered under a qualified plan.

This causes adverse selection - which drives O-care premiums up. So the carriers make money on the “dark” markets, and dump O-care. If O-care was to truly work, democrats should have legislated that carriers to only sell the O-plans. Creating a healthier insurance pool. Carriers either played in the O-care market or get completely out and go sell property & casualty insurance. If democrats wanted O-care to truly work they would have mandated that everyone had to purchase in the O-care market. No waivers for government, union or employer plans.

But oh no, democrat/communists put the burden on the back of the middle class.

Repeal O-care, destroy the monopolies with insurance carriers and healthcare providers and set the market truly free.

You government bastards.

The Freedom Caucus did Trump a favor.

I’m pretty sure Trump knows this but if he doesn’t it will dawn on him after a while.

I normally like Liz Peek but she is wrong on this one. And she is engaging in spin about what is and is not popular opinion.

now I’m confused. I just read Rand Paul’s plan and it’s remarkably just like the one they refused to pass. So why wouldn’t they refuse to pass Rand’s bill, too?

Rand vs The Bill:

1. Essential health benefits gone - yup
2. Pre-existing coverage - yup
3. Employer health ins premiums deductible but not for individuals - (not sure)
4. Establishes HSAs - (yup, but has to be added in tax reform) allows deductions for nutritional supplements (do what?)
5. Allows doctors to write off charity care up to 10% of earnings (don’t think that’s in The Bill)
6. Allows groups to form insurance pools - yup
7. Interstate marketing - yup (needs senate for interstate?)
8. Anti-Trust reform (not sure about The Bill might be senate stuff?)
9. States can change medic-aid rules at will. (nope - The Bill says states have to verify citizenship, no per head but block grants instead, enforce welfare to work programs to get people off medic-aid)
10. (this one’s strange)stop-loss insurance is not health insurance (is this talking about catastrophic ins? not sure)

Some in the press and all of the rinos are failing to learn the lesson of todaay, which is:

The days of the secret back room deals and the sheepie press hiding from the voters how they attempt to govern IS OVER.

The internet has enabled the public.

Thousands of people working through the internet are turning over every rock and exposing the cockroaches.

Ryan will end up getting dumped. The congress will support a true conservative to take his place.

The voters will demand it just as they demanded that we have a real man for president.

Nonsense. The one who suffers is Ryan and the RINOs

Oh? ACA is not working? It requires modification?

HAHAHA! Republicans had nothing to do with ACA. It is ENTIRELY the Democrats’

What a joke. Thanks for the laughs.
