Airplanes use airports. If you get distracted by airplanes at airports then don’t fly. Same with wake turbulence. If there are larger aircraft at the airport you’ll eventually experience wake turbulence. It’s like traffic on a highway, just a part of flying. Just like driving there will come a time when each individual can no longer handle the responsibility safely. Time to hang it up. (Retired USAF Air Traffic Controller)
Soon Ford will be landing at a Walmart parking lot.
Amazing the amount of pilot knowledge here. That is why I have been posting Ford threads
Btw...he had just recently had a medical checkup before incident.
SNA is definitely the airport “designation” but who refers to the airport as SNA - I’m going to the SNA airport???? The name of the airport is John Wayne Airport and referred to as such by the County while pilots and airliners in the air and on the ground use the correct designation SNA.
When we arrived there in the early ‘70’s, it was just plain old OC airport with a shack for a passenger terminal. We were there for the controversy over renaming it JWA and for the controversy naming the terminal after Tom Riley.
I misspoke about the busiest airport in the nation - in terms of passenger load, I believe it was 2nd in the L. A. Basin.... Old tales like old rumors never die and that’s what that was at one time...Been a long time since those days. ALL good!
I watched a passenger 747 do this one morning. Lined up on a runway at the old Floyd Bennet Field instead of JFK. Rather sharp port, then starboard turns got him back on the approach path.
Well, he is an experienced, veteran pilot not a Wookiee
Groan....
