Fifteen miles in 2.5 to 3 hours is between 5 and 6 miles per hour. That is a run, not a walk. 4 miles an hour is a very fast walk. Some of the facts look wrong here, especially if there are intersections etc.

He’s pulling down manager money, presumably full time, and he can’t afford a car or at least a bus pass? And no one working at that location will give him a ride? Sounds like either a personal PR stunt or he really, really likes to walk.

Smart enough to be a manager but can’t find a good use bicycle for cheap or some other form of transportation.

Something isn’t adding up here.
Is he supposedly walking 15 miles one way or round trip.
It takes about 2 hours to RUN a half marathon (13 miles)

I am not a runner but running a half marathon 5 days in a row every week, for months on end, seems like it would be nearly impossible?

The comment from the store management struck me as odd. We asked if he had transportation nd he said yes. I guess he didn’t think to mention it was his feet and that’s fine. I love his commitment to his employer.

But when they said they would address it with him, that almost sounds like he’s to be reprimanded, or it’s just some mealy mouthed HR lady who doesn’t know how to give an honest answer.

The furthest I ever had to walk everyday was to my high school and back home, and that was 7 miles. But it was uphill. Both ways.

Didn't read the whole piece but assuming that he can't afford a bus or a car...or isn't,for some reason, allowed to (or able) to drive...there's always a bicycle.

I used to ride my bike to work (about 10 miles) 1) because I was a cheapskate 2) because parking near the hospital was impossible to find and disgracefully expensive and 3) I enjoyed it (most of the time).

15-18 MPH is quite a pace on a bicycle, for a casual hurry up ride 10 MPH is more realistic. I know aggressive young guys can haul buttocks quite fast, but like someone else says you are going to need a shower at work. Add in lots of hills and I call Bravo Sierra with doing 17 miles walking one way in under 3 hours everyday. There just isn’t enough time in the day to work, travel, live and sleep.

I agree with what somebody else, said... this must mean 15 miles round trip not one way.

There was that UPS employee who walked to work and his colleagues gave him a car. That was another recent story.

Standards for infantry is 4 miles a hour. 12 miles in 3 hrs. 15 min mile, and that's with a ruck, weapon and equipment. It's not a breeze.

Kudos to the guy for walking, he will stay in shape.

I use an electric unicycle to go to work. It takes less time than using my car, near zero fuel cost, mean speed = 15 mph, no sweat. Just saying...
