Omg, this is still going on? He is being held sort of hostage as I recall. And maybe has some mental trouble? I’m sad for him if he is in need and can’t get help.
Y’know, the really crazy thing is, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina it was Richard Simmons and Harry Connick Jr. who were showing more REAL leadership and initiative in the situation than Mayor Nagin and Governor Blanco.
I thought that was Casey Kassem.
That did happen to Casey- I think his wife kept his kids from seeing him.
But there was a story where Simmons was being kept by some woman or people, and not allowed out? And when he was out he was cowed and not his ebullient old self? Alzheimer’s could be part of it (or some other degenerative disease) but there was also some worry that his “caregivers” did not have his best interests at heart.
Good grief - if I had to rub elbows with those phony people to make a living, I’d be a recluse as soon as I had enough money to do it.

He certainly is updating his website that helps “obese” people and they have a daily message; I’ve read his website before just because it does help people exercise and lose weight.
All aside by Simmons, he has helped a lot of people.

I love Richard Simmons, I don’t care what any Freep thinks! That guy is hilarious and brilliantly self-depricating. He always got under the skin of the clearly homophobic liberal that is David Letterman.
He’s let his grow dreg long and has developed nasty talons as a result of not trimming his nails.
He goes through palates of kleenex and lives in a hotel room in Vegas...
His appearance on Howard Stern was beyond bizarre.
