A new culprit for climate change is found, but it’s not of this Earth

Since the media is all aflutter over proposed changes to the EPA and various climate-based regulations, we may as well visit (or revisit) the debate on climate change. Is it the result of activities of man or simply the normal patterns of changes in the Earth’s complicated biosphere? Some claim that it’s a combination of the two. But now, a team of astrophysicists has released new data which seems to support a decades-old theory which places the blame, shall we say, a bit further away. Since a picture is worth 1000 words, here’s a hint:

That’s right. The actual culprit for the repeated rise and fall of global temperatures might actually be Mars. That sort of thing is rather hard to square with our current debates but it all has to do with the “chaos” inherent in the orbits of the planets and how they interact with each other. The journal Nature broke the story this week and the details are contained in this release from the University of Wisconsin.

Well how about that then...

I knew it! I [sadly] got rid of my SUV two years ago and we still have globull warming!

It’s the sun more than anything.

I’ve long thought that interactions not just with the Sun and Moon but also objects further out such as Mars and even Jupiter could have a small albeit cumulative effect on climate. Jupiter is so massive that it has an almost imperceptible tug on Earth’s tides.

This clearly comes on the heels of recent evidence found for a "chaotic solar system" model.

But certainly there must be multiple reasons why climate changes over time. You can't just say "it's humans", or "it's the sun", or in this case "it's Mars".

It's still easier and cheaper to *adapt* to climate change than trying to "fix" it.

So how would banning floride in air conditioning systems and ruining gas mileage by requiring ethanol to be added to gasoline affect the orbit of Mars? Surely, the “experts” such as Al Gore will be able to explain that to the rest of us.

Yep and variations of our orbit around it.

I'm not big on the freon they put in the tap water, either.

I remember that Astrologers said that the planets influence humans on Earth. Scientists said that was impossible as the planets were too far away to exert any kind of influence on Earth.

Now, they say Mars influences Earth. Hmmmmmmm.

Exactly. And not fer nuthin....but I'd like one person...only one...to show me evidence of when this planet's climate was NOT changing. The planet is a dynamic weather machine driven by the Sun. Climate changes. That's how the bloody thing works.

It used to be Global Warming. But they obfuscated the language to account for the fact that temperatures were/are dropping. Why are these nincompoops in a tizzy over the fact that the Earth is doing what it does naturally with no help from Man?

Check this website out and observe solar flares over the last unseasonably warm days. I have been watching this pattern for years and it checks out:

Go figure....

That Ice Age charts has always scared the hell out of me.... We’re OVER-DUE.... and they last a helluva long time.

Global Warming should be the least of our worries.

Impossible. The sun and Mars are way out there in space. They have zero effect on earth. We must have a massive powerful government and extremely high taxes to save our selves.

Nothing but hot air. Small causes don't have big effects. This comes from a misunderstanding of what is disingenuously called the "butterfly effect."
The "butterfly effect" is about our inability to predict the effect of small changes in a chaotic system. The flapping of a butterfly's wings in Ankara does not cause a thunderstorm in Angola.
Besides, the main source of heat energy on the Earth is the Sun. The Sun's output fluctuates cyclically.
