I love FR, Jim, and all of you guys.
I am a faithful monthly contributor
But FR is so incredibly slow to load.
Is it my IP or is it my alternative reality?
I have a very fast internet service but FR is the slowest site to download.
Perhaps I am not logged in...
Oh sorry for the crank. Did mean it the way it came out.
Sheesh...need more coffee.
DIDN’t mean it the way it came out.
Rooster, I have a lovely neighbor I am trying to find a wonderful man for. She is quiet, lovely, eligible, wants children, gardener, mushroom hunter, and a hard worker.
My guess is that FR is under a 24x7x365 DOS attack which is slowing down the downloads.
Thx Chickensoup. She sounds wonderful, but I am much too old for a gal in her child bearing years.
darn!
I had pictured you in your forties.
Agree with Drago. I live in a rural area with wireless broadband that at best provides 5 MBPS downloads and Free Republic returns almost instantly. The source of your problem might just be the DNS servers your computer is configured to use. I use Google’s DNS servers. Try configuring your computer to use the following DNS addresses:
8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
As you know, the feed for your computer goes through many places before it gets to your server. Somewhere along the way to Cox Cable its not getting through fast enough. Its not your computer.
Thanks. I've never heard of Charter before.
Well... I have heard from many FReepers (not necessarily on this thread) from all over the US who are experiencing slow loading of FreeRepublic.com. They're not all on Cox Cable...
The best I can do is keep switching browsers: Sometimes I use Google Chrome, sometimes MS Internet Explorer. I gave up on my beloved Firefox a couple of years ago because - regardless of website - it kept freezing up on me.
Posting this comment to you tonight (via Chrome) was pretty quick, actually. Getting to this thread was slow, however...
That's EXACTLY what usually happens to me.
