he missing lithium problem is centred around the earliest stages of the Universe: from about 10 seconds to 20 minutes after the Big Bang. The Universe was super hot and it was expanding rapidly. This was the beginning of whats called the Photon Epoch.
At that time, atomic nuclei formed through nucleosynthesis. But the extreme heat that dominated the Universe prevented the nuclei from combining with electrons to form atoms. The Universe was a plasma of nuclei, electrons, and photons.
Only the lightest nuclei were formed during this time, including most of the helium in the Universe, and small amounts of other light nuclides, like deuterium and our friend lithium. For the most part, heavier elements werent formed until stars appeared, and took on the role of nucleosynthesis.
The problem is that our understanding of the Big Bang tells us that there should be three times as much lithium as there is. The BBT gets it right when it comes to other primordial nuclei. Our observations of primordial helium and deuterium match the BBTs predictions. So far, scientists havent been able to resolve this inconsistency.
But a new paper from researchers in China may have solved the puzzle.

The authors applied what is known as non-extensive statistics to solve the problem. In the graph above, the dotted lines of the authors model predict a lower abundance of the beryllium isotope. This is key, since beryllium decays into lithium. Also key is that the resulting amount of lithium, and of the other lighter nuclei, now all conform to the amounts predicted by the Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution. Its a eureka moment for cosmology aficionados.

Problem solved.
Now, everybody get off the computer and get to church .... pastor has some GREAT news for you today.
We don’t really know what happened, but we are going to throw scientific babble with no real substance at it to continue to get government grants.
The problem is that our understanding of the Big Bang tells us that there should be three times as much lithium as there is.
Universe. Batteries not included.
God created it all by speaking it into existence.

Ignorance is bliss.
The consequences for each are as different as night is from day.
You'll discover the consequences of ignoring God in a very short time and it won't matter WHAT the "science" says.
Probably super advanced civilizations have used the Lithium to drive thermonuclear devices. Jeeezz..what does these scientists think powered the super weapon in Star Trek “The Doomsday Machine”.
Islamic scientific advancement stonewalled when the ruling mullahs decreed that 2 + 2 = whatever Allah says it does.
So, it’s not so much a problem with the universe than it is our understanding of the universe. Or was, rather.
God created people such as myself who have boundless curiosity and want to know as much detail about HOW God created the universe as possible. For us, a simple pronouncement that God spoke and it was so is not a satisfactory answer. Furthermore, the Bible is severely lacking if one tries to use it as a definitive source for any scientific knowledge.
Bush’s fault
" He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing."
(Job 26:7)
Limited or no, if you believe the Bible about spiritual matters (which supersede imo, physical matters), why wouldn't you accept the lack of science as not as consequential as you've been guided to believe ?
I know where the missing lithium is located.
Michael Moore ate it.
Now, where’s my Nobel?

Science says that there was initially nothing which "couldn't help but explode and become everything" or some such stuff to explain how the universe started with a big bang.
No reason why an ever existing God couldn't have "spoke the universe into being" using a verbal "fuse" to set off the Big Bang - every bit as believable as the "non-ignorant's" efforts to explain that which is beyond their ken.
I’m not sure what you are getting at.
My curiosity about the earth and universe is something I was born with. Thus, I take it as a God-given drive to learn and discover everything I can about it.
I do not take the Bible as a guide to scientific discovery.
I do not take the process of scientific discovery as a guide to spirituality.
These are separate processes with little overlap. And the overlap is in those areas where I might ask for divine guidance: “Dear God, please guide me to the insights I need to correctly design this experiment to prove or disprove my hypothesis, Amen.”
The early Church considered Science to be the means by which the August Secrets of God were uncovered. They developed the scientific method to know as well as possible what was what.
“The Universe Has A Lithium Problem”
Not sure what the problem is...
I get mine at the Walgreen Pharmacy every month.

I think the ending of Asimov’s “Last Question” makes more sense.
Look up the origin of the expression “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.”
