e warned Israel on Thursday - in a surprising statement - to cease settlement announcements that are "unilateral" and "undermining" of President Donald Trump's effort to forge Middle East peace, a senior administration official told The Jerusalem Post.
For the first time, the administration confirmed that Trump is committed to a comprehensive two-state solution to the Israeli- Palestinian conflict negotiated between the parties.
The official told the Post that the White House was not consulted on Israel's unprecedented announcement of 5,500 new settlement housing units over the course of his first two weeks in office.
"As President Trump has made clear, he is very interested in reaching a deal that would end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and is currently exploring the best means of making progress toward that goal," the official said.
"With that in mind, we urge all parties to refrain from taking unilateral actions that could undermine our ability to make progress, including settlement announcements," the official added. "The administration needs to have the chance to fully consult with all parties on the way forward."
Trump plans to bring up the peace process in his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House scheduled for February 15.

That would certainly deceive the elect, if that were possible. The herd would be the one convinced that he is the antichrist.
Behold, I have told you before.
Matthew 24
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
Not in the desert. Not in the secret rooms, but where the carcase is lying out for the eagles:
In plain sight. Like a salmon redd.
WYSIWYG. He is who he is, right out in the open: honest, whole-hearted, sincere. It's deceptive, because who ever sees that? Everything a man like that does could be construed to the contrary, especially if he has a very high intellect, because people can perceive that he would be capable of great mischief, should he have that type of character.
Behold, I have told you before.
Sounds like fake news.
VP Pence met with the King of Jordan the other day, and I believe Trump was scheduled to meet with him among a group of other people today. The position of King Abdullah on this issue is well-known, and he's one of the most highly respected leaders in the world today.
The U.S. embassy will eventually be moved to Jerusalem, but I have always highlighted the wisdom of doing this as part of the overall dealings over there -- rather than as a pre-emptive move that would serve only to diminish the credibility of the U.S. as an outside authority that can bring some leverage to the negotiations on both sides.
Peace between the illiterate Palestinians and Israel?
Forget it! It’s a journey that has no end.
I agree, sounds like fake news.
I agree, sounds like fake news.
Humm.
My nuke list hasn’t changed.

LA.
Greater than that, encompassing the entire world.
All that whining from the anti-Semites about the “Joos taking over the world” is inadvertent prophecy. Somebody has to lead the way.
One state solution = the state of Truth
Unnamed ‘sources’. =. Fake News. More made up crap
GLdget, why don’t you ever respond to comments posted on the threads you post?
Let us just continue to shovel smoke, it feels so good not to have to show any tangible result.
Yeah, it brings more services to all the surrounding Arab areas too. The housing is needed due to population growth and limited supply inflating the prices. Too many adult kids living with their parents because they can’t afford to get their own home.
I so want to visit Israel someday. I have pictures of Jerusalem, the temple mount and the Massada (all from a calendar) hanging in my office.
I don’t know if this story is true or not, but I can imagine President Trump saying it.
He doesn’t care if Israel builds settlements or doesn’t build settlements, but he does want to protect Israel.
If they broadcast their intention of building the settlements, it could welcome unwanted pressure and additional problems for them with their neighbors and the international community.
You can put me down as one who wants President Trump to keep his promise and move our embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, since historically, Jerusalem was and always has been the capital of Israel. And for the fact that the only reason we put our embassy in Tel Aviv was to appease the Muslim world.
However, I don’t believe President Trump has unilaterally decided to delay the move. I believe he is consulting with Prime Minister, Netanyahu, on the right time and in the right way.
When PM Netanyahu gives the green light, I believe President Trump will act, and yes, the Muslim world and the international community, will implode.
More than a few things have deceived the elect lately.
Even the conundrums about Trump on this site and elsewhere.
God accomplishes things according to His purposes and this fairy tale has yet to play itself out.
It's a license to make shit up.
This isn’t CNN or MSNBC it’s the Jerusalem Post. So I’m not sure how fake it is.
I agree that the poster is somewhat non-typical but not without precedent. Jean S and StandWatchListen posted similarly to this poster — posting correctly titled articles with little comment on the initial post. Sometimes a followup. Jim doesn’t like a lot of vanity posts — the poster never posts vanities. Jim kind of tolerates chatty stuff but it really doesn’t seem to be his cup-0f-tea — same for this poster.
He isn’t like me, discussing a lot to theory or history and partaking in fellowship — but that’s certainly okay.
He didn’t start posting articles until five months after he joined. He read for a few months, and made comments for a few months, saw how it worked and then started posting good articles just the way that Jim likes it. Could he be a troll — hell, I could be a troll.
