The looks on some of the children’s faces are priceless. When I found this site last night I sat here clicking slides for a long time.

My first meeting with a Great Dane was when I was about 3.5 years old. I loved it and immediately asked my father if we could get one. Since we lived in a four room apartment in a big city, he refused. Now, at age 74, I have my first Dane, whom I adopted almost 6 years ago. He’s a wonderful dog and, so far, very healthy.
Thanks ever so much for posting these terrific pictures.

The texture and lighting of these two photographers are remarkably similar. I love the innocence of the children. They know no nationality and no animosity; just the wonder of life.

We have friend who has harlequin Danes. They sit on with their butts on the sofa and their front feet on the floor and watch the animal channel. They crack me up.

That’s the thing about Danes; they have an incredible power of being remarkably funny in so many things they do. My guy’s a mantled Dane, meaning he’s marked somewhat like a black and white Beagle. In addition, I did not have his wonderful long, soft, floppy ears mutilated. That means when he runs, his huge feet throwing up dirt clods and his ears wildly flopping, he’s one of the world’s funniest sights. Whenever strangers see him, their initial reaction is, “WOW.”

All the slides were so beautiful.
I love big dogs. Have one now (Doberman), but had a very large St.Bernard mix as a kid who was so wonderful and very furry. Some of the dogs in the slides reminded me of her.
Thanks for posting such an uplifting set of photos.

The wonder of dogs; I’m sitting here smiling reading your comments. I called my boys in here just to give ‘em a big hug and thank them for making me smile everyday.

What breed(s) are your boys? My older one is half black Lab and half American Staffordshire Terrier. Now he's 11 years old and weighs 92 lb. He was supposed to half Dane but didn't quite turn out that way. Tremendously friendly, funny dog with the pure drive and self-confidence of Donald Trump. My Dane is 115 lb. and will be 6 this year. What was my couch has became his couch. A good friend of mine who is not a dog fancier said this about my guys: "All they do is lie about the house, threaten your life, and slobber all over you."

We usually have 2 dogs at a time , Dobermans for the last 25 years. We started getting our dogs from Doberman rescues for the last 3 dogs. We like giving a home to a rescue dog. I even started getting horses from rescues a few years ago. So many wonderful animals who need a home.
I have saved your article, and will enjoy it again, and share it with friends via email.
Cheers!

We rescue mistreated and abandoned dogs. My wife focuses on Basset Hounds because too many people just don't understand how to care for them.
We foster dogs, but end up keeping some of the ones that need medical attention or emotional support.
I recently picked up a Plott Hound that was left tied in a house where renters skipped out. I can guarantee that rescue dogs know they have been rescued. He is loyal, obedient and never leaves my side --
