Jury in Bronx Acquits Larry Davis In Shooting of Six Police Officers

Utterly dishonest accusations can reap stunning results, as is clear if one reviews the facts of this horrific case of more than 28 years ago.

It crossed my mind as I read about it that this is what the Democrats are now doing against Donald Trump. Making a series of utterly baseless accusations, and pounding them into the public mind over and over again using the MSM.

The Larry Davis case was an amazing illustration of how a smash-mouth media strategy can generate powerful results; William Kunstler and Lynne Stewart were able to get an acquittal for mass murderer Larry Davis after he murdered six people and engaged in an indoor gun battle with a swat team that resulted in the shooting of six police officers, members of the NYPD Emergency Service Unit. No officers were killed, but one was hit in the face and had to retire.

At trial, Kunstler and Stewart mounted an audacious defense, based on the theory that Larry Davis had been forced against his will to sell drugs for a ring of corrupt NYPD cops, who had decided to murder him when he said refused to deal with them any further.

Kunstler and Stewart asserted in court that the corrupt officers had demanded $1 million from Davis, which he didn't have, and for that they had conspired to execute him.

Before he was finally arrested, Larry Davis had murdered at least five people, all of them drug dealers.

The defense tactics of Kunstler and Stewart resulted in acquittal for Davis on the most serious charges arising from the shoot-out with police, although the jury voted to convict him on six counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Many facts of the case can be found on-line, including in Chapter 13 of William M. Kunstler: The Most Hated Lawyer in America, by David J. Langum.

It's obvious to me that the Left has learned its lesson well, and is using these tactics against DJT as he prepares to take office as President.

They've leveled many charges against Trump in recent months, both before and after the election. For proof, they offered very shaky "testimony" that was easily discredited, or (in the case of the "Russian hacking" accusation) is entirely absent.

But this kind of accusation is effective. They don't really expect to convince anyone who supports DJT, or even very many of those who are lukewarm toward his presidency. They hope to (a) increase and sustain the hatred of DJT among left-leaning Americans, (b) force DJT to defend himself, and (c) discredit and delegitimize his Presidency before it even starts, thereby diminishing his power as a communicator and bargainer.

The Larry Davis case shows that this can be made to work. That they are ramping up their attacks shows that they believe it is working.

I haven’t seen it change yet.
Trump had to constantly fight them and he still does. They’re like terrorists: they only have to ‘win’ once.

Do you know what happened to Larry Davis? Is he still alive? Has he reoffended?

Larry Davis went on trial for the Vizcaino murder five months later. He was found guilty on March 14, 1991.[24] Already serving 5 to 15 years on weapons charges, he was sentenced to serve an additional 25 years to life. After the sentencing, Davis spoke for about an hour, repeating his longstanding complaint that the police and the court system were engaged in a vendetta against him.[4]
Death[edit]
Davis was serving his sentence at Shawangunk Correctional Facility near the Ulster County hamlet of Wallkill. At 7 p.m. on February 20, 2008, correctional officers overseeing one of the yards noticed inmates congregating around an apparent fight. When they went to break it up, they found Davis had been stabbed repeatedly with a 9 inches (23 cm) long metal shiv. He was taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in nearby Newburgh, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.[25]
After questioning by the state police and the New York State Department of Correctional Services’s (DOCS) inspector general’s office, another inmate, Luis Rosado, 42, was charged with murder.[26]
Rosado was already serving a sentence of 25 years to life for murder and assault charges in the early 1980s, and had been denied parole in 2007. He was arraigned at Shawangunk Town Court the next morning. DOCS officials said both he and Davis had long disciplinary records, including fights with other inmates, but there was no record of any previous violence between the two.[26]

He’s dead. Killed in prison in 2008 by another inmate.

His reoffending days are over. He got stuck with a nine-inch shank by one Luis Rosado while a guest at New York's Shawangunk Correctional Facility up in Wallkill. This resulted in the termination of his life at the age of 41.

Rosado is currently living at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Danemorra, which happens to be the prison from which two inmates — Richard Matt and David Swett — escaped back in 2015.

I don’t suppose anything like that happened to Kunstler, dammit! I know that pig Stewart is still breathing.

Kunstler and Lynn Stewart—the lowest level of human slime.

Maybe it’s her bottomless reservoir of hate that’s keeping Lynne Stewart alive. The radical ex-lawyer used a recent Associated Press interview to hail the assassins who gunned down police officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge as “avengers.”

Her venom is nothing new — after all, she called 9/11 an “armed struggle.” On trial in 2005 for aiding and abetting “Blind Sheik” Omar Abdel-Rahman and his terrorist outfit, she boasted of her belief that “entrenched institutions will not be changed except by violence” and “you can’t always single out the combatants from the noncombatants.”

Stewart won her own 10-year prison sentence (and disbarment) for helping the convict stay in communication with his terrorist followers. After her conviction, she said she “would do it again.”

But she served just four years — granted mercy from the system she despised. Given 18 months to live back in January 2014, she’s now lasted 31. Over the decades, Stewart represented a whole gallery of sociopaths: David Gilbert of the Weather Underground, Black Panther airplane-hijacker Willie Holder, cop-shooter Larry Davis and more.

And her latest odious words confirm that Lynne Stewart defended her worst clients not because she thought them innocent, but because she approved of their crimes.

From The New York Post, 6 September 2016.

thats the sorry state of justice in New York State. with no death penalty there any convict can kill every living person in the prison, and all he gets is another life sentence.
